Hey guys from NY....need some advice.....please

Hey guys. I need some advice here. I have been smoking blu e cigs, disposables, and its costing me a lot of money.
I smoke like 2 packs of Newports a day. Since the last few weeks, I have been using the blu e cigs, but im still smoking analogs, and I am enjoying vaping, but its just not cutting it with the nicotine. I have cut it down a lot with the analogs, down to maybe a pack now, but I do smoke all day long. So, probably a good idea for me to get some extra batteries I guess.
So, first off, I NEED to get a good setup, and it must be somewhat similar to analogs, as I really want to use this to cut out analogs all together.
So, I would rather stay away from the big tank like ones that some of you swear by. I have tried them, and they are just too big for me. It would maybe work for me if i smoked cigars, but i don't. I am used to the feel of an analog Newport in my hand, and my mouth, and the oral and hand fixation is big for me. So, as i look on youtube and other places like this forum, I really like the style of something more similar to an analog, like the Halo G6 type of setup.
So, anything I should stay away from, or go towards? I really want to order this like tonight, so please, anything you can throw in too help my decision, please do. I appreciate all the help you guys can give me. I like a lot of smoke as I take big drags of my analogs, and something size/feel of a real cig would really help me with the change. And, so far Im leaning to nhaler nuport as the liquid, but I am open to any suggestions on that also.

Thank you so much, I just don't have enough time to study every little thing about vapors, I just need a good setup, and once I get more into it, I can always upgrade to a crazy expensive one. For now, money is an issue though.

I had to go to 36mg/ml juice to get off analogs, but only for the first week. It's been a month or so and I'm on 24mg now. I would buy 3 bottles- one at 36, one at 24 and one at 18. You can always dilute the 36 with 18 to make more 24. You're going to need some high nic content to get you over the hump. I'd get 30ml each, and order more of whatever works for you as soon as you figure that out. Keep your supply chain full, so you don't run out and have to go back to analogs.

At first I wanted the small cig-like setups too, for the same reasons. I got real tired, real fast of charging batteries every 40 min. and filling cartos every 10 min., which is what you'll be doing with a Halo or Joyetech kit. I'd say go ahead and get the kit, but don't get all fired up to quit analogs. See how it works for you and get used to it. Even if you hate it, it will get you started and can eventually be your backup setup. If you like it, you'll want 10 batteries to get you through a day, and a 10-battery charger to charge them overnight each night.

I'm jaded on the 510 kits though. I couldn't stand it and went to a Provari with a big honking tank, and I've been off analogs for a month now. I got so aggravated at times with the 510 that I wanted to smash all those little bits into dust.

Just get into it slowly, don't spend a wad of cash on a huge supply of batts and cartos until you find what works. Good middle ground is a Vivi Nova Mini with Twist batteries, if you want to look into those. The batts are WAY better than 510s, not a whole lot bigger.

This is good advice, when I stopped smoking and started vaping I had to start at 36mg nic and work my way down to 18mg nic, it was a gradual process and I went through roughly 60ml of 36mg before I stepped down a level on the nic.

For a good liquid filled starter to move from the Blu I would say the Joytech standard 510 works like a charm

I'm sorry I'm not much help as I didn't want anything like an analog - not in taste or look/feel. I at first started with a Nuvo, which was similar to a cig-a-like and my cousin still swears by them, but it wasn't enough for me and I wasn't a fan of carto's. Now I'm happy with my protank, evod's and spinners - and lots of different flavors.

The closest I can recommend is this kit here - I would get the 650 twists and the evods to be closer to what you are looking for - but it's not exactly a cig-a-like. It is a smaller set up than some of what you see here and the batteries will last about 6 hours or more. (I believe!!) I'm sure more experienced vapers will be along to help out. Baditude's blog that he linked to is a great start!

Welcome to ECF and good luck to you!! :)

Okay, guys. First, thanks so much already. I can't believe how fast the replies came, and now I am reading through all those links. Keep the opinions coming! and thanks a LOT for getting me in the right direction. I wish I had more time to read the countless hours of info online, but i don't. I need these fast, and these links already seem like they got me going forward. So, thanks in advance for any more suggestions, and thanks so far.

easy. take your time. the world is not coming to an end. breathe in, breathe out. dial back the instant gratification syndrome you are suffering from. you are pretty much surrounded by brick and mortar shops the further west you go on the LIE. use this site as it was intended to be used, so you are not duplicating your purchases the further you go down the road to recovery. the idea is to buy the best reliable go to unit you can find. the lookalikes are chronically unreliable. think about your next purchase b4 you run off half c*&%$*d. try to think about long term big picture.

You could consider one like this: Joye 510. It's inexpensive but still more of a "cig-a-like". I bought one myself (from CigNot) for basically the same reason, the whole "feel" of a cig. Also, I started with Blu too. You can even order "automatic" batteries that kick on when you inhale, just like the Blu disposable. Though "manual" is easy to get used to. They have a small button you press and hold when you go to inhale.

The 510 is so named because it uses the 510 threading. That gives you a lot of options on cartomizers since 510s are very common. The Blu cartos are 510 threaded so you can even use them if you want. Or you can buy "blanks" (which can be had for very little cash) and fill them. Blu's liquids are made by Johnson Creek (maybe you know this already) so you can get similar liquids.

I like Johnson Creek's liquids myself. They're VG based so they produce good vapor, more like smoking than a PG base.

I too was hell bent on finding something that looked and felt like an analog but in the end they all ended up on the shelf or in the garbage. In my opinion, which is just an opinion, go with an ego type 650 battery and clearomizer setup. It's what I'd recommend to anyone who isn't happy with gas station type ecigs. You can even get a 350mah battery if you're that concerned about size but they don't last very long. Altsmoke.com is IMO one of the best sites out there for customer service, product quality and shipping speed. I've placed orders on Saturday and had them in my mailbox by Monday. They have plenty of options as far as entry level devices and when your ready to drop some money on a higher priced setup, they have you covered there too.

The "cig-a-likes" just don't work very well. None of those types of batteries were meant to last ore than 30 minutes if you vape every now and then. They just don't supply what you need at this juncture! You should start out with juices of 24mg and then cut down if you feel you want to later on though I'm of the opinion it's not necessary.
I avoided using Blu's or any of those types of junk by having a mentor thankfully!
:p
I would advise you to get over needing to use something that feels or looks like a cigarette.
Get yourself a couple of eGo batteries with at least 650-1100 mAh for all day long vaping pleasure and buy a few of those Evods
from a reputable company like Electronicstix.com
You can buy Great tasty juices at Timelessvapors.com to start and they have many flavors.

d.weglarz13,

I have to say that this is pretty good advice. I started with a 510-like, cigarette-sized e-cig, and absolutely hated how often I had to recharge them, and how quickly they needed to be recharged.

If you could stand going with the more Cigar-size e-cigs, I'd have to say, get an eGo-C or a Twist, and something like the Vivi Nova. An eGo-C Kit with 2 Batteries will cost about $80, and the Vivi Nova is about $25. My Freedom Smokes is a pretty good Vendor, so browse that site. Joyetech is pretty high-quality stuff, but you can save a little money by getting the Vendor's brand of the same thing.

But like skoot said, don't spend too much on equipment right now, because in all likelihood, you'll want to move up into a Mod, at least eventually, and the Ego or Twist could be a Backup. Even a 650 mAh eGo Battery (the Shorter one), in a Kit of 2, should last you all day, but they also make higher mAh models. Or if you do get a 510, you'll likely want to move up to the eGo later, or go straight for a Mod. If you're around a Computer (or AC Power with the correct USB Charger), you might want to consider a 510 or eGo Passthrough also, because you can Vape and Charge at the same time.

So scout around MFS to see what you can afford. Other great Vendors are Apollo and MVS...

i'll be totally no help, so ..., here goes.
you're going to wind up there anyway. whether you think you will or won't.
spend a little now, spend double later.
so just go for the gold now. save some bucks in the long run.
you're wanting to copy what you're doing now.
well,, you're trying to break one habit to start another.
it feels different, so you're going to get used to it.
you can't break a boulder with a ball peen hammer.
so just get the sledge now and get it over with.
cause you're gonna have to have it eventually.
told you i'd be no help. LoL
if it ain't broke get a bigger hammer !
have fun

I use Volts from Smokeless Image. A 78mm plus a carto last 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Using 24mg juice got me off a 3 pad habit in 3 days.

Volt is a very nice starter kit--with a possibility to upgrade to a Volt Spinner and clearos.

If you want mini ciglike batteries, Volt, eRoll or eCab offer nice kits.

If you don't mind fatter batteries, the MVS kit that jenmurray recommended is a very nice one--and it's customizable.
