:wub:Trick, thanks for the shout-out to the Music Game (we've got an easy and a very hard version going, btw;)). He's posted some really excellent stuff, too. I've been really enjoying going back over the "What Are You Listening To Right Now?" thread, and we have a lot of vapers here with killer taste. Since Trick mentioned surf music, can't ever hear this too many times (cool way before "Pulp Fiction") --

The first live show that I really remember was Billy Joel; I'd just turned seven, and my folks took me and my best friend. To this day, when someone says "Chevy", most of the time I hear "...and he's trading in his Chevy for a Cadillac-ack-ack-ack-ack-ack..."!

This is the Chevy lyric I remember (from American Pie...super popular when I was coming up)...

"Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry"

EDIT: And I just saw Trick mention Don McLean.

Love these - one of the all time greatest albums for me personally.

What is insanely-glorious to me is the fact that Mark Knopfler, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Hendrix belted out the lyrics at the same time that their guitars were smoking!

And while on the Dire Straights theme...my fave by them. Long, but good.

How about most embarrassing drunken karaoke number any of you've belted out:D?? Only have a few, myself, but I truly have yet to live them down. Here's one (just the youtube song, not the karaoke:p)

Loving the Dire Straits stuff. Probably should have put them on my list, too. And Pappy, you like Bowling for Soup? It's rare I ever get anything other than a confused look when I mention them.

As far as drunken karaoke, I reserve the work of the late, great Jim Croce for those times when I've got just enough alcohol in me to think holding a microphone sounds like a good idea.

Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I've been told I do a pretty decent job of it. :)

Janis Joplin, however? Total train wreck.

"Bowling For Soup"?!!! How in the hell have I never, ever heard of them? Could someone link a song for me? :?:

Nomo, probably their most popular song was "1985". Their songs "Girls All The Bad Guys Want" and "Ohio (Come Back to Texas)" were probably next.

A couple of my favorites are more recent. "I've Never Done Anything Like This" makes me laugh every time I hear it, probably because I knew a girl just like the one in the song.

"Here's Your Freaking Song" is a humorous song for a girlfriend who wanted a song written for her:

You talk to much; you never shut up.
Everything I do for you is never enough.

You snore, you drool, you talk in your sleep.
I won't get a night's rest until you're six feet deep.

I promised you forever but we both know we're never gonna get along.
You want it; you got it - Here's your freaking song.
