Hi y'all! My name is daisy and although this is my first post...i've been lurking and reading for a while. i'm glad i did, because i found Backwoods Brew and OMG they're amazing. If i wasn't poor, i'd have ordered more than just one 15ml bottle (malty toffee, need i say more - and i went with one bottle in case i can afford a larger one later, lol!) My addiction before that was (and still will be my main vape) is black licorice cut a little with some extra anise extract added in. i'm already planning to ditch my old school 510 set up for an ego C next month (I'll be able to sell what i have locally, thank goodness - it'll help pay for the new kit!).

i love vaping! i have been smoke free for 6 weeks and a day as i write this :) Heck yeah, I still have nicotine in all of *2* of my flavors so far, but i had purchased a bunch of cheapie 5ml no-nic bottles to try out flavors from madvapes. i found some i love (sticky toffee pudding and peach cobbler anyone?) but also found some that i find gross - even after decanting (green apple).

Everyone here seems so supportive of everyone else - love this place. i've come here for a lot of advice. The only advice i didn't follow was to go ahead and get a more expensive set-up, but the ego C popped up right after i did what i did purchase-wise. I'll be buying one next month  :)

A bit about me, hrm. i'm a book nut. i worked for almost 8 years for Borders bookstore until i became disabled in late Jan 2006 First an ankle surgery in 8/05, then i found out i have two herniations (T7-T8 and L1-L2 for those in the know) AND to top it off, aggressive arthritis in both knees. i'm still trying to get my actual disability (i don't even have medicaid, just food stamps which i'm far from being ashamed of). i have an awesome partner/roommate who is also disabled and we live on his SSI - so we have to budget a lot, lol! That's why i'm mourning the fact that i'll probably not be able to order from Backwoods for a while :(

Anywho, i digress! i love books, as i said a bit ago. i have a collection that's 1.5-2k books giver or take a few. we have 8 bookcases and I really need at least 5 more! i think we're going to try to turn the cat room (we have 7 kitties who are mostly rescues) into a part cat walkway heaven/part full room bookshelves. Thankfully i have family & friends nearby who can help - should be an interesting project once i finish the plans! i also collect PEZ - i have about 1k of them and we're slowly finding places for them in the house (we live in a house my parents got me so i wouldn't be homeless - and so i'd be closer to them as they're both in their 70's - and it's a cute little arts & crafts cottage so LOTS of wood and amazing floors, but also years of abuse:() We discovered they fit perfectly on top of all the window and door frames - like a match made in heaven (and a little bit of fun tack, lol!) cats and toy targets do NOT mix (which is also why they're so high up!). i'm also a philatelist. i've been collecting stamps since i was about 7 years old. My grandfather was actually a stamp broker in NYC which i amazing. i really never knew you could make a *really* good living buying, selling and auctioning stamps! It was extra super cool when i was little because he'd give me "special" stamps and tell me to go home and have my dad help me put it in my album (dad collected too and xmas of 2010 he gave me his collection - mini faint!)

Guess i've babbled enough for the moment - whew i when i get going i don't shut up, er stop typing? It's real life too so don't think i only ramble on here :p

toodles for now!

daisy

Hi all - I turned this into a blog post and added some more about me in it - feel free to read it if you'd like! (saves answering a lot of questions, lol!)

Thanks for all the warm welcomes and congrats! i think i only smoked 1 pack the whole month preceding. i'd been using mystics with an occasional Infiniti or Blu when we couldn't make it to Wally World for whatever reason (no Pilot's around here). The pack was the day before I gave them up completely - a pack of Marlboro Smooth (my poison of choice or camel crush). i had *zero* problems putting down the cigs! i guess i'm lucky! i'd smoked for 23 years and tried SO many times before and never made it past a week.

i think the big thing for me was the menthol - just tasted like peppermint, mostly, to me and my MS's were also peppermint. i'm enjoying finding new flavors - unfortunately I'm stuff with the lower end juices because of cost When you like licorice and can get 50 mil 36 mg for 13.50 and then cut it in half with pg/vg it's like 100 ml for under $20, i can't beat that. i also want to try mixing up my own flavors and with the flavors so inexpensive and the availability of unflavored pg/vg - why not try? My partner keeps calling me the mad scientist and i keep telling him it'll end up cheaper, lol!

Anywho - see? i really *can* ramble, ROFL!

toodles - daisy

Hi Daisy, Im new here too and off analogs for 3 weeks this time. Went back for a few days when I let myself stupidly run out of juice. Otherwise would be about where you are now. I personally credit the menthol flavor as helping me be so successful. Tastes so fresh and seems to satisfy better. I also like cappichino and fruit flavors. Anyhow, nice to meet someone from my birth state.

Thanks darsayre! When i knew i was going to have to buy another $15 pack of carts for my mystic system just 3 days before the 510 arrived, I wanted to kick myself - but then i went and sniffed an old ashtray (we kept it so we'd remember the nastiness!) and that was enough motivation to not hit the cigs, lol! i have adored every single flavor i've tried except for that green apple - ugh! i love the coffee, caramely, fruity, savory, multi-layered flavors that just make your mouth jump up and clap!

i'm so weird, lol!

Hi, Daisy, and welcome to ECF! :)

I love green apple flavors, although admittedly, I think it depends on whose juice you use as to what type of flavoring you get. I haven't tried MadVapes' juice yet, but I am quite partial to VapeDudes' apple pie or caramel apple, both of which have a granny smith-sort of flavoring (the sweet-tartness). However, I tend to use the apple flavors to cut the richness of the buttery-creamy-caramelly-bakery-ish yumminess, so that might be a good use for your green apple... dunno. It may just not work for you. I've got a couple juices like that. (I love real pina coladas, but oh, if I could just find a pina colada juice that tastes like real pineapple and real coconut instead of like pineapple ice cream topping and weird coconut flavoring...)

You aren't weird, unless the rest of us are weird too, at which point it's not really all that weird any more, is it? :D

LadyPixel - i'm with you on the pina colada - the one i have just doesn't have that sharp bite of pineapple or the proper creamy coconutty combination! It's not bad though - it's exactly what you describe, and it's passable but someone needs to get that tang and smoothness together somehow! The green apple i have tastes like shower gel to me - but it has rave reviews - i'll try cutting it with some caramel - maybe try it with some sticky toffee pudding even!

Mad scientist is when you go 'hmmm, this Backwoods Brew Nutty could use more almond, I wonder what ratio' and start experimenting.

In my nice, roomy Phiniac tank, I can put 40 drops of Nutty, 30 drops of Liberty Flights' almond (at a lower nic level than the nutty), and five drops of a sweetener. And I do, in fact, sit and count. Took me forever to come up with that specific combo. :D

Of course, the fun part is shaking the tank around and watching the layers of almost-clear, dark-tea-brown, and absolutely clear turn into one nice pale color!

Seriously, though - enjoy the experimentation. I think the experimentation is as much fun as the vaping itself. You'll have some disasters, and you'll have some triumphs, and it'll be fun. :)

Oh - i'm ready to go mix freak as soon as i can afford to put together what i need to really do super fun stuff - but i've already been mixing weird flavors like raspberry and cherry limeade, rasberry and waffle (can you tell i was trying to make raspberry work?) a drip here, a few there - i even managed to make banana sticky toffee pudding - tasted like amazing banana bread - woohoo! I've actually looked at prices for pipettes and such on non-ecig sites to see what i can find. i also want glass titrating tubes and a stand for it along with a few beakers (i was the best titrater my chemistry teacher ever had - he told me, lol!) I won't be looking to find any chemical reactions, but i can get *really* accurate measurements. Sure, i could use syringes (my bf has to get a shot from me every week so we have them all over in their little packages) - but a titrating rig just looks more fun *giggle*

Raspberry and cherry limeade actually should work out pretty well, I'd think.

I use syringes, gets a nice accurate measurement -- but I wouldn't mind swapping to pipettes for simplicity's sake. I do use a few droppers now and again, but pipettes have the accuracy in measuring that most droppers don't seem to have. Then again, I'm not fully DIYing... yet. I really need to pick up some PG and VG and some flavors and have at. :D

My friends call me the mad scientist when I start "cooking" my juices. I have a nice "portable lab" that I can carry with me. I do the full DIY, and all but one of the flavors I vape daily are my own creations. I LOVE mixing delicious vapes!
