Meh... I feel like such a noob. Wanna mix my own but... can't stop buying shiny stuff. Wanna build my own coils but keep looking at the box and doing nothing. lol
As far as nic strength... to me it's just a number (somewhat how I feel about my age). Does it really matter if it is exactly 1.1 or exactly 9? The important question is: can you vape it without choking and is it satisfying your nic craving? If you answer yes to both questions, the actual number doesn't matter.
And yeah, the store stuff is all over the place, thus I have 0 nic all the way up to 18 nic on hand. Almost since I started I have never just put one kind of juice in my tank and vaped on it. Been mixing all sorts of stuff just to get myself a "happy vape". Made a few mistakes mixing flavours together but hey, that's what trial and error is all about. Learned a lot along the way and still learning.
And a few weeks after that you start will make you go "why didn't I start doing this a long time ago?!?!?!"
Like you, I was mixing my store stuff as I couldn't get a "happy with" flavour, then made the jump, worried at the time that I might have trouble as it seems complicated to get into (and expensive to start)... it didn't take long before I wanted to slap myself.
I now have a box with over 70 bottles of recipes or straight flavours now, been able to sort the preference of everyone at home, and have better flavours than store stuff now, as much at hand as I just remake/refill as needed.
For every 100$ I've spent on DYI, is worth multiple dozens of bottles' worth as opposed to maybe 6-7 of store stuff that's so full of sweeteners that it destroys coils within days... whereas the DYI stuff, the coils last me 3+ times longer (some over a month).
Same with coils... took the time to learn and get them right, and now it's crazy how much better my coils are compared to the pre-made stuff, and it only takes a few minutes to rebuild them.
It's doing the leap that seems like too much of a jump, but once you do it, you realize that it's actually not that hard at all and you save so much money, it's crazy. (and can end up being a fun hobby)
