    Hi all,

So I recently switched from the old style stick batteries to Sub Ohm with the Kangertech topbox mini platinum edition!

And I bought some spare SSOCC coils from amazon. And they are meant to be 0.5ohm but on my display screen it shows 0.64ohm? And when I change the wattage on it to more than 25 watts I start to get the burning sensations.

Also when I try to use the SS setting on the mod it also does the burning sensation and taste.

This is with the replacement coils too. The coil That was inside the tank when I got it a month ago that coil lasted me like 2 weeks. And the 3 other of the new ones I bought seem to be faulty with the above issues as I said.

The coil that was in the tank when I first used it was fine on the SS setting and the wattage setting. And it always displayed 0.51ohm with that one. No idea why it says they are more ohm that what the SSOCC coils should be. It clearly states on the box and on the coil it is 0.5ohm but obviously my mod is saying they are 0.51-0.64ohms?

So any advice would be great?

I also tried googling my issue but couldn't find anything related to it.

Could my mod be faulty? or my display on my mod be faulty?

    Thanks in advance

Several things. They could be clone coils not authentic. Factory made coils are ball park on the ohm rating. The .5 ohm may be .45 or .6 or something else in the range. Factory watt ratings on coils are fantasy. Mode readings on ohm are not always accurate, just close.

Ohm changes on coils with heat. A hot coil will read a higher ohm. If you are trying to use TC on the coils make sure they are room temperature for the first ohm reading on the mod or it won't work right. Start will a low temp and work up until you are satisfied with it.

You would be better off ordering authentic coils from fasttech. Order ahead, if you order 5 boxes you get a discount. Always use the word authentic when searching at ft. Ebay and amazon are not great sites to get gear or batteries from. All I order from them are cotton and diy supplies.

Well the Kanger authenticity check for the coils can be copied too. It is a simple ID number check to match another number on the label. They could simply take this off of a legit box and reproduce it on many packages. The Kanger check doesn't tell you whether that code has been checked before or not. So it could be being used multiple times.

If you have more than one box check to see if they are different.

Yep I just checked the 4 boxes I have. All the ID codes are different on each one. And they are all saying they are authentic.

Using factory replacement heads being off by .14 is nothing unusual or anything to be concerned about.
Kangar offers a few different .5 heads, I use the Clapton they will not work in TC mode all mine have ranged from .55 to .68, makes no difference, adjust power up / down to find sweet spot.
Make sure the ones you have are a wire type suitable for use with TC.
ssocc does not designate a wire type.

Be sure to thoroughly prime the new/unused heads before use or they will at least singe or burn the wicking material, always start a new head off at a lower power & work your way up over the first tank full.

And I did fully prime them first and left them to sit for about 15 mins as well before I used them. I also remove the battery then put it back in so it then asks me to click yes or no to new coil etc etc. I also dry inhale about 5 times too before I actually press the button to vape.

I think you need 5 posts before you can post links. So you might be able to now.

New coils need some work in usually. Start them out low watt and work up from there. Ignore the printed wattage on coil....it is a fantasy rating.

Using TC on them, the coil must have the ohm read a room temp to work properly. a warm or hot coil will read different than a room temp coil

I seriously doubt there is anything wrong with either your power device or the replacement heads.

The only .5 ssocc head that can be used in TC will be marked sus316 ssocc & have pink seals/o rings.

The .5 claptons have black seals/o rings.
    .5 NiCr have red seals/ o rings.
Neither can be used in a TC mode.

Slight variation in resistance is typical / normal / to be expected when using replaceable heads.

Those are expensive.....Way too much. Those may be nichrome as they look to have a red band and the box doesn't have SS on the bottom.

Here first read this on the coils....The color of the ring band tells what material.
Clearing Up the Confusion About The Kanger SSOCC Coils

Then consider ordering from here in the future. A lot cheaper and note the SS on the bottom of the box.
