Genesis. Russian. kayfun. premium dripping atty.

All of these devices have their proponents, who claim that they deliver the best vape they've ever had.

I am curious about throat hit and flavor saturation between them.

Sure, I could drop hundreds comparing the options myself.

Or, I could ask a large community with a number of people who already have for their experiences...

So, who's tried multiple high end delivery devices? Who's compared an HH 357 to a genesis with a well made wick and coil? Who's compared both to a Russian?

I'm looking for an "after dinner treat" sort of device. I can't really see anything beating out the basic combo of ease, convenience, capacity, and solid, if not incredible VFT a BCC offers for all day use. However, for at home, in my chair, really savoring a favorite flavor - what's going to win out?

Just so that the "It depends" crowd has some more fat to chew, I'm currently rocking a VAMO V2, but am planning on upgrading to either a provari or DNA20 in the near future. I have no interest in sub ohm vaping or mechanicals, so that option is out. If it's "better" than a similar 1.2 ohm coil (say in a genesis on a provari) then I'll have to settle for "second best" I guess.

I've tried all you mentioned except the hh 357.

For best flavour it is drippers all the way.
drippers>taifun/kayfun>genesis ... for me.

Favorite dripper for flavour is my reomizer. I think the small chamber has a lot do with that.
So if i was looking at a dripper for a provari, i'd look into a cyclone or an a7... something like that.
You don't need 3 posts for a provari, since there really isn't any point with dual coils for it.

Throathit can always be adjusted for... the further away from the coil the more throathit...
till you cough a lung up if you want to :p

I've got the HH.357. It's good for testing juices and works all right.

Really? A rebuildable dripper as opposed to something like a premium dripping atomizer? I'm not expressing disbelief, just a bit of surprise.

I had an eternity that I liked pretty well. I just figured it probably got a lot better than that...
I've got a Cobra but I haven't checked it out yet. It's just sitting there looking pretty on one of my ProVaris that I haven't used yet...lol

I've got too many gadgets.

What's your favorite delivery method for flavor and TH?
Right now I'm good with my cartotanks. Mind you, I haven't been getting proper sleep for weeks now and I've been very busy so I haven't been concentrating on vaping. I just want to fill and go and get the job done. I haven't struggled for "the perfect vape" in some time.

Cartotanks are very satisfactory in their consistency and performance.

There might be better out there...heck, I might OWN better...lol

I'm not in need of it currently. *shrugs*

I hear ya on that. For a long time, I was just happy as a clam with my protanks. I have 4 of them, and I don't vape all 4 over a day, so I clean and refill right after I drop the kids off at school, so there's always a full tank ready to rock. That really does the trick for me where grab n go convenience is concerned.

However, since I'm thinking now about stepping up to a non PWM device, with a nice clean DC signature - and trying some new flavors, (as well as ordering some old favorites I haven't had in a long while) I was really hoping to step up the taste profile some - sort of a desert or relax treat for end of day time.

To be completely honest, if you're not getting a great flavor from normal old silica wicks, silica may just not be for you. I can't say for sure because I'm still testing things out, but I know that so far, for one reason or another, silica has tasted horrible to my tongue - you can just taste how nasty it is when you do get a dry hit, and half of what mutes the flavor with silica could just be some dry spots. Before dropping a lot of money, you may want to test out different things like cotton or hemp. Hemp is something that's said to give the strongest "wickish" flavor (like a smokey reed material) but it is said that this flavor doesn't actually taste that bad really (that it goes well with tobaccos), and that hemp can give a crystal clean taste as long as it's cleaned extraordinarily well. Cotton is supposed to wick the best, but there's a lot of concerns because of how fast it can burn.

A lot of people really say that there's a crystal clean, full taste in devices like the iClear, Aspire, regular dipping atties, ect ect, and while it also may boil down to taste buds, I've certainly tasted some variation among even the same devices (one person's will taste dryish and another will really taste fantastic) so, if you do try to run some normal old tanks, you may have just had some bad luck with wicking and coils. Moutain Vapors sells a rugged CE5 with hemp wicks, I can't wait to try it out tomorrow and see if it really fixes some taste issues that I seem to get with silica.

At the end of the day, it's really just how well your device delivers juice to the wick, how soaked the wick is, and how hot the coil gets, and if there's any dry spots or whatnot. I couldn't tell you which devices to better than the other, but as of right now, I can't recommend anything else besides going down the rebuildable route, and using this to inspect your coils and do some tests, making sure everything's flowing correctly. Not all devices are equal, even in the same brand.

Protanks were such a pain. After the first day or so it was constant fiddling with them.

Never again...lol

Wow. That has so not been my experience with them. A bit of paper towel or tissue cleans up the inevitable condensation, but aside from that I have found them such a joy to use.

Carto tanks on the other hand, I couldn't keep from flooding to save my life!

See, and I never had any issues with flooding on a cartotank that I had all the time with Protanks....lol

Perhaps we all suck differently. (not like that, you pervs!)

I have tried Kanger T2s, mini and full size protanks, etc. I now use a Kayfun Lite and a Tobecco Kayfun lite clone. The Kayfun Lite and the clone of it give me the best flavor I have ever found. I am also trying an Iclear 30S, but I don't like the juice I have in it so I can't really give an opinion on it yet. I find my Evic to be the best device I have over my Egos and VTR. I just started using the feature on the Evic where you can create a program for wattage that changes the wattage as you vape. I start out at 11 watts for a couple of seconds, then 9.5 watts for 1.5 seconds, then 8 watts for 1.5 seconds and it then steps down to 7 watts for any remaining time of the vape. This lets the coil heat quickly and then stay warm without over heating for the entire vape. No burnt taste and great flavor.

Only thing I haven't tried is the Kayfun/Russian 91%. The way they are built and their small funnel should make flavors stick out quite good, but I can't tell yet. So far for me it's RDAs>Genesis>Carto Tanks>Clearomizers. Until I get my Kayfun Lite Plus I don't know where it'll sit on the list. I don't really like vaping off any clearomizer (that means no Vivi Nova, Protank, iClear, etc.) they all mute the flavor to hell IMHO. Then again coming from something like dripping no wonder it tastes really muted.

I'm with you on the clearomisers, especially anything bottom coil.

I've rebuilt all of my Protank and Vivi Nova heads with micro coils, cotton and ranges from 1.2-1.5 ohms. While it does increase flavor, I'd still take a carto tank over them any day. The most intense flavor I've gotten to date is from a 0.4 ohm IGO-S, 0 nic juice and a good lung hit. I used some NicQuid Strawberry Fuzz, and I could've sworn I had just drank a strawberry/banana smoothie.

That would suck.

I don't like strawberry/banana smoothies. :(

the recipe for a great vape is proper wick saturation on the right coil wicked properly and with the proper airflow in relation to the coil and proper chamber size and at the right power level, many devices can deliver this or not deliver this depending on how it's built and fine tuned, and what's proper for me may not be proper for you. there can be no one correct "here get this" answer, the real answer is in you learning how to alter the variables and fine tune your own perfect vape and the only way to really get to this point is trying different things and reading and studying the results of others and getting experience with different things. I know it would be nice if someone did all the trial and errors and could then just give you the answer but it doesn't really work like that. if it did I'd say just get a dual coil cyclone and stick it on a milled down reo grand and that's it, vape nirvana, but there are so many other ways to get there too

After much discussion with other people, I'm becoming convinced that how we, as individuals, actually pull on our devices makes a huge difference into how our delivery systems perform and, in fact, can dramatically change as we embark further on our vaping "careers" and that method of draw changes with practice.

I now noticed that I draw for a much longer time than I did at first and much more consistently. Whether this is due to having a machine that is wired for complete consistency without fancy performance or simply because the whole vaping process is becoming second nature, I couldn't tell you, but it is telling in how people tend to like the clearos and bottom coil tanks quite a bit more in the beginning and then find the appeal fading as they advance into dripping and other methods. Mind you, I've managed to drip using an HH.357 and get completely crappy vape and taste on an off night but when I'm not really thinking about it, it's wonderful.

Cartotanks for me were as natural to use as drinking a glass of water is for a thirsty person but others don't take to them as well, even with similar setups. I'm not so sure that would have been the case a few weeks ago when I was vaping more like I was smoking. The regularity, consistency, and frequency of the draw could make the same delivery system two entirely different worlds.

Just thinking with my fingers on the keyboard, I suppose.

yea, the draw goes hand in hand with any negative pressure tank setup, and most tank setups are exactly that and are very dependent on the draw and very affected by differences in how one draws on it and this is also heavily affected by the power level your vaping at. draw helps bring fluid in, power to the coil takes fluid out, it's all a matter of balance to get everything right to get the right balance of not dry and not flooded.

it's a lot easier to get flooding and gurgling or to get dry and burnt than it is to get perfect saturation and actually stay there in that perfectly saturated zone as you take fluid in and vape fluid out... the vape is only at it's best in this central perfectly saturated but not flooded state
