Completely Average, I think the hardest part would be getting name recognition. Folks will be hesitant to jump on board with an unknown modder.

You've got a great idea with the DNA200 as there are none currently on the market that I know of.

Good luck to you though buddy. I wish you the best.

Actually, I kind of like the idea of going with LiPo.

I could put it behind a removable battery door in a well vented compartment, and leave the connector exposed. Then I could market it as a replaceable LiPo mod. It would make it an easier sell if the buyer knew they could easily replace the battery, plus it would give them the option to buy two batteries and charge them outside of the mod if they wanted. Swap them like they would 18650s.
I prefer the lipo as well, some seem to have a fear of them though. It's not like the fail that often. When they do its usually from higher amp applications then we subject them to, and it's not like they fail with no warning signs.
I'm sure a few idiots will cause some damage with one, user error caused, and all the nay sayers will come out of the wood works to shout, "See? We told you so!"

I never realized that wood mods were so expensive.

Perhaps it's time to break out the wood carving tools and make my own. Making a mod is EASY, and I'm not too shabby on the woodworking.

I think I still have a few good sized pieces of Tiger Maple lying around. I doubt it would take more than 2 days to make a fairly ergonomically shaped mod with no special engraving. Seems I could get around $400 for such a mod, maybe more.

What do you guys think? Mech or regulated?

Regulated would definitely sell for more than $400. If I had the woodworking skills, I'd try to make an ergonomic shaped mod. Something like this: A Gepetto Flo that sells for $750 if you are lucky enough to find one. They also make regulated squonkers.

I don't fear LiPos. I just worry about people building mods with no idea on how to make a safe LiPo enclosure. It's not as simple as make a square hole, throw in LiPo. ;)

I think the lack of name recognition would be pretty easy to overcome. Using a well known chip and a youtube video detailing how it's assembled would go a long way towards easing any doubts. Let potential buyers see how it's put together. Then some high quality photos showing the final products so they can see the fit and finish in fine detail, give them the opportunity to know the mod inside and out before they ever touch it. The key to selling it will be removing doubts, so the more information I can give and the more detail I can show the less doubts there will be.

Good luck to you though buddy. I wish you the best.

It's still just an idea I want to think about. I wasn't even serious when I first said it, but then I started thinking "why not"? Even if I decide to do it, it's only going to be a handful of mods made in my spare time. I'm not about to leave the career I've dedicated the past 20 years of my life to and start making mods full time. I've only made 3 guns like the one pictured, one for myself (the one shown) and the other two for family members. I enjoy the metal and woodworking as a hobby, but it's not something I'm interested in spending 8 hours a day for the rest of my life on.

But thanks for the well wishes. If I do decide to do this I'll need them.

Well, no need to worry about that with me.

I'm a network administrator by career. I've spent two decades assembling computers and wiring networks. I've worked with a dozen different types of battery backup systems from things you set next to your desk to massive battery backups that are as large as a car. If anything, the electronics side is where I'm most comfortable, that's where I make my living. It's the wood and metal working that is only a hobby for me.

I personally Dig the Idea of melding the most Modern Tech of Reg Mods (ie. the YiHi 350j) to the Old-World Aesthetics of High-End Wood Mechs. If done in Stylish and Quality Form Fit & Function would be an Impressive and much desired Product. Such as the ES by Erie pictured above. That thing is BA and quite alluring!
Definitely be a Player should you decide and be able to pull that off.
+1 on the Eye and Brain Candy (an Overwhelming amount of readily available Info & Intel) as a most adept and proven Tool to overcome Doubt and Skepticism in the prospective Buyer. The more detailed and Visual the better. Create the Value and the perceived "Need"- Prudence, Rationale, and Cynicism go out the door and are disregarded quickly.

Absto stunning. You are far beyond completely average. If you do decide to create, I know we'll all be following your progress.

Vape mail! My XvoStick arrived.
Next to my TT for size comparison.
18661871584_b98a617cc8_z.jpg

I was going to throw my other Ubertoot on there in mini mode, but the Squape works well on it.
I'll warn people now, some attys might not play nicely with the XvoStick due to obstructing air holes.
Other than that, the only thing I'm not "sold" on so far is the buttons aren't clicky like I'm used to. :p

Congratulations! Looking good, vakaion. Very good, in fact.

What attIEs might not play nicely with it? As far as the buttons go, I've had some consideration about them, but after watching Scott's vid, I thought they might be ok. He described them as somewhere between clicky and spongy.

How are you finding it in terms of the position of the button press (being somewhat low)?

Well I'd be assuming a whole bunch of 23mm attys. lol
22mm I can honestly say it's barely noticeable on my UTA and SquapeR. I am fussy with how much airflow I like though. ;)
That's a good way to describe the buttons actually! They're okay, they just don't have that great feel that "clicky" buttons do.
The button position is fine for me. Depending on how you hold the XvoStick either middle or ring finger sits nicely on the fire button. Index finger firing would be awkward... lol

The Squape suits it better. :p

Jax, that is very cool looking!! I so don't want to get on Facebook, but seems to be THE place to find some very sweet Vapes related stuff!!

I got on facebook a few years ago but never posted anything and rarely checked what others posted. Once I started vaping a little over a year ago, I found that it was the place to be for a wealth of info. Then I started my journey with high-end gear and found it to be pretty much the only place to acquire brand new top of the line gear. High end mods are in such high demand and such low supply that none of the modders could keep up selling their mods out of B&Ms.

Even being a part of the various modders groups does not guarantee one a mod. A list will come out and hopefully you don't miss it. Then that list is randomized where only the top 10-20 entries get the opportunity to acquire said mod. Some people ..... and moan about the way things are handled but for me it's actually half the fun. The hunt is half the fun as far as I'm concerned.

Then there are other groups where one can trade their gear to perhaps acquire their unicorn second hand. There are also raffle groups. I acquired my Famous Royal and a Pandora in this fashion. $70 and $100 respectively. There are also groups that sell second hand gear at RRP. And, of course, you can also purchase high-end mods second hand for a premium in certain groups.

It's definitely not for everyone but I rather enjoy it now.

Currently on the hunt for a Hurakan, Zero Xtreme, Dunamis or any other 26650 TP regulated mod.

Cheers! They definitely stand out. :D
Love how the TT panels can be swapped out in a jiffy whenever the mood takes me. I have some wood here I intend to make into new ones, plus I'm stalking Facebook for more too. lol

This thread is killing me - too much want.

For now I must maintain my energy on finding the perfect small squonker with DNA40, preferably in wood or stabilised. Got my eye on the Art & Mod Spectra - just hoping that they release one in a natural wood colour and that I am lucky enough to be online when it becomes available

Pics of the prototype for those who haven't seen it
