My setup:
Lambo VV with AW IMR 18650 genuine
Smoktech DCC 3.0 ohm single hole
Phiniac tank
Super T tip

Some liquids I use taste burnt at different voltages. I recently purchased a Vanilla and it started to taste burnt at only 4.7v on the lambo scale, but a 555 liquid I have from a different vendor can burn up to 5.5 without the burned taste. I am not sure if it is an issue with my setup or the liquid itself, but I usually have good experiences and havent switched it up in months.

I bring this up because I really like vanilla, I like vaping at high voltages for the feeling, and I like to run my cartos for about a week each.

Whats my game plan?

Simple. Reduce your voltage.

I hate to be a smart-..., but the whole reason for variable voltage is to be able to adjust it to suit the juice and the carto/atty you are using. If your juice is burning, then your voltage is too high for that particular juice/carto combination.

Thanks, but here's the issue: I want to burn it high to get the throat hit but not cause the burnt taste. I finished the remaining liquid on a much lower voltage to avoid the burn and it really ruined the experience.

I guess what I really want to know is what determines the 'burnt temperature' and how to buy liquids that can take higher temps. I tried searching for high voltage liquids but came up dry. I just dont know if the flavoring burns at the low temp or its the PG/VG mix and if theres anything I can do in the future to avoid it. Vendor suggestions are very much appreciated if possible.

I think you will fine that it has a lot to do with the e-liquid contents. For one sweeter juices burn easier. 3 ohms at 5.5v is rather high. You may just want to try carts with a higher ohm rating, like 4-5 ohms. Also the higher the nicotine content the more throat hit - nic is the key to throat hit more than voltage.

What nic strength are you using? Nicotine is what gives you the throat hit. Sounds like you are substituting burning for throat hit. Some juices will taste somewhat ok when vaped on too high a voltage; others taste horrible. Sounds like you've just found a juice that taste horrible when burnt.

I purchased a 24mg but I have a pretty good feeling it was mixed light. The worst thing is it tastes awesome right before it overburns. This one I maxed out at 4.6v because it would burn any higher, but it was barely vaporizing it all. The other juice I was talking about at 5.5v I only mention because it can burn that high without consequence, my regular setting for most liquids its 5.0v +/- .2 .

Does anyone sell a durable vanilla???

What nic level are you vaping? You might try a higher nic level.

Certain flavors, certain nic levels, certain temps all affect throat hit. It's all pretty much trial and error. And, sometimes it is a matter of re-adjusting your own tastes and needs as time goes on. Maybe learning to enjoy the experience of each unique flavor combination.

Edited to add : What about PG level? You will get more throat hit with higher PG level.

PG carries flavor and throat hit, VG brings on the vapor. I prefer a cooler vape with lots of vapor, I just love those plumes! But, I also like flavor more than throat hit or burnt hot, so I use 50/50 and 70/30, depending on the juice.

It is all about trial and error. I have one flavor that I only like on the ProVari, when I use the same thing (juice and china did) on the Gripper with the exact same settings it is too hot. Strange how picky ones tastes can be, but over time I have learned which setup I like with which juice.

It is so individual, that trying to pinpoint your sweet spot is impossible. We can give you pointers, but you need to dial that in yourself and the VV's make it all possible.
