Top Cap:
Nice deep engraving, you won’t find any laser etching here. The Word Hijo engraved on the AFC sleeve and Brown Man Creations along the bottom of the cap, opposite side contains serial number. The AFC sleeve has a tight enough fit that combined with the 1 O-ring it doesn't move around easily.
The top cap is milled around the air holes creating a channel that meets up close to your coils, optimizing flow and vapor.
The air holes have been designed with a channel along the outside (2mm channel depth 3mm air holes) of the top cap followed by the AFC sleeve that covers the channel placing the inlet above the air channel that meets to your coils. This keeps your juice from leaking through. Any juice that gets into the channel just gets sucked back into the atomizer as you vape.
There are 3 openings in the AFC sleeve for dual or single coil operations.
The top cap has a Delrin insert for the drip tip, helps a lot with heat dissipation from the drip tip as the atomizer gets warm.
Deck/Atomizer base:
2 post design unlike most others. The positive post is on the side rather than the middle, essentially making the positive and negative equally spaced from the direct middle of the base. This was the main reason I wanted the "Hijo". Without the center post being in the way it’s easier to route your wick in such a way to drip through the tip such as the roller coaster build. This would work perfect for cotton builders.
The post and screws are probably the best thing on this RDA. The posts are massive and do not spin, or at least they haven’t yet. BMC claims that the posts are welded, I cannot tell from the top.
The screws! They almost look like they were custom milled. Phillips head design but the cuts go all the way out so you can use a flat tip or anything you can get to fit in there. I've noticed that this prevents a puddle of juice from sitting on top of your screws.
The base of the atomizer "IMO" would have to be able to come apart. I was hoping it would unscrew but I couldn't get it to budge, therefore I believe it is press fitted. I can’t think of any other way of making the positive post from the top of the deck touch the center 510 connection without something fancy going on inside. If the posts are welded I would think it’s probably from the inside and the positive post being welded to the 510.
The 510 pin appears to be silver plated copper as stated by BMC.
BMC also states that it contains peek insulators. I’m not sure how to prove this but I can say they haven’t burned or make a smell.
PROS:
Everything listed above
Cost was $90, lots of good atomizer qualities for such a price.
Appears to be a difficult RDA for clone manufacturers to produce. IMO
CONS:
The air channels protruding inside the cap can lead to shorts if not being careful with your builds.
If your coils are too long they can touch the cap if its turned. Build it correctly and no problem, shouldn't be an issue for micro coil users.
The cap doesn’t sit completely flush at the bottom of the base. Doesn’t look bad though, may be part of the design.
Not really a con but may be for some. The atomizer gets warm pretty quick, with the cap being so close to the coils I wouldn’t expect it not to.
I'm glad i was quick enough to get one!
But what to mate it too?
