ok, thanks to everyone for their help today - really, thank you. I just rolled a new coil...first measure was 1.6, gotten 1.5 and 1.4 since. 9 or 10 wraps, I think 10, around the next size up from 1/16 drill bit (not sure what it is). then used the 1/16 drill bit to position it. wicked it with cotton. let it soak for 30 minutes or so. puffed it, didnt inhale. lots of crackling...thought it'd be burnt. blew out the smoke...breathed it in...

holy ..... beautiful, thick, BG vapor! puffed it a few more times, inhaled some...wow.

bottom line, IT WORKS!! i'm so happy! i get a slight weird taste on some drags and the BG doesn't seem totally flavorful (except breathing in that first aroma...wow) right now but i have faith that if this doesn't break in, using less cotton and experimenting with my wick will yield a good result. i'm on my way now. thank you guys!!! much love!

SCRATCH that...suddenly it reads 0.0 and no idea why - didnt even touch the thing. i probably shouldnt have but i loaded it onto a kgo (the MVP battery is dying, thought maybe that was it) and hit it. BEST FLAVOR YET, AWESOME VAPOR. put it back on the mvp2. 0,0ohm, but the mvp2 is reading other coils fine.

did the wick expand too much maybe? crud

Sometimes the act of screwing/unscrewing can actually lead to shorts, especially if the rubber/silicone insulator gets compressed. Something that was prefect one second could become less than due to the compression of the insulator.

It takes some time to get it right, but vaping bliss is right around the corner.

my hunch is that the cotton expanded too much and i noticed after removing it that the coil had moved slightly and was touching the side. carefully with tweezers, i moved it back center...read it at 1.4 again. rewicked with much, much less cotton. now that its in, this looks more like the photos people have showed me. when i put it on the tank, bubbles rose immediately. letting it set...still 1.4 ohm

is this dangerous? i mean, even at "0.0" on my kgo, the hit was THE BEST ive ever had, so i totally believe you--vaping bliss is imminent

is the mvp center pin still properly aligned ? i get a 0.0 error sometimes too.. have to fiddle a bit with the center pin a bit (and never screw on the atty too hard)

on the MVP itself? i think so, looks pretty aligned. i rewicked last night and it's still holding a 1.4-1.6 reading. vaping...not super well though. the flavor is fine but seems muted. the vapor production isn't minimal but not great - not at all like the wick with more cotton. but it's vaping and not leaking and didn't short out...

might try using a tad more cotton next time

For those who have been steeping Wakonda for a long time - where does it eventually end up for you flavor wise, what all is happening?

And steeping - I'm confused about it. If an SR for instance was mixed all at the same time, wouldn't all of our SR be the same steep regardless of when we ordered it? Does something about bottling it set the steep backwards?

There was a small quantity of "super-steeped" Wakonda... and then there was the big batch for public release. As it continues to evolve you will get much more detailed information about where it "lands" - but, for me, it does a great job of balancing over time. (which tells you nothing about the specific flavor notes) For me, the vanilla portion is pretty weak, fresh - it tends to come forward and balance. The coffee tends to fade a bit and be replaced with the NET tobacco. That's just my 2c though - keep in mind, taste is subjective~~

After being involved in this thread for awhile now I decided to buy some Virus to see if it really was all that. I really just don't like it SO if any of you feel that way about Wakonda I would love to trade. It is a 15ml bottle of Virus with a few drops missing at 18mg.
Let it sit for three weeks.
I liked it but thought it was just a strong punch of flavors.
3 weeks later and it's buttery smooth and not as strong as first. Everything is blending nicely.

Okay, I'm going on vacation so I'll let it sit here and see what happens when I get back but I have to admit I'm worried. I disliked it so much I put the atty in denture cleaner after trying it to get rid of the smell. I got a licorice out of it. I was quite surprised because I haven't heard anyone say anything about licorice but perhaps I'm just wierd.

Licorice huh? haven't gotten that at all. Let it sit for a while indeed and don't be discouraged. Wakonda may not be everyone's cup of coffee (pun intended) but it does seem to be mellowing out for me. When I first hit it FOOB it was a punch of dark roasted coffee - AWESOME. I get less coffee lately, sometimes it almost seems tasteless--not really but it's just not overpowering. If I had to pinpoint the tastes I'd say primarily a really good pipe tobacco, a bit of coffee and creamer. One reason it's my favorite ADV is because the taste isn't overpowering. It just seems to vape and vape and not wear down my palette. I have experienced vapor's tongue with it more than any other flavor because I vape it so much x.x
