Got my first order from Nicoticket on December 3rd. Wakonda and Custard's Last Stand. Here's how Wakonda hit for me...

Steep time: FOOB/2 weeks later

Nic Level: 12mg

Tank/Atomizer: Nautilus mini

Mod: (mechanical, VV): Eleaf iStick

Thoughts/Tasting Notes: FOOB I have to say the smell was different than anything I have scented before. Wasn't sure what it was. On first hit I got a really sour (think sour like a dirty sponge-not a lemon) note, and a kind of coffee (?) flavor on the exhale. Didn't care for it at all. Set it aside, washed out my tank, and refilled with my fave (thus far) juice to get the taste out of my mouth!
Let it sit while I thought about it...I mean, the reviews here led me to choose this juice...maybe I was missing something? Tried it again (just a dropper full) and nope - still found it sour and unpleasant with a kind of damp earth taste on the back of my tongue. Decided to fill the tank the rest of the way with the CLS. Ah ha! THAT was much better. The sour taste was gone and it definitely tasted more like coffee. But, put it aside for a while thinking that a bit of a steep might help it.
Two weeks later - I still don't really love the Wakonda straight up, but mixed with the CLS at about a 70/30 CLS/Waki I find myself enjoying it all day.

This is the first 'tobacco' juice I've tried so I really can't speak to that flavor - not sure what it brings to the juice. If anyone can offer a general description of the notes it may add to juices I'd appreciate it. Meanwhile, not sure I'll order it again, but will leave 30ml of it to sit for a while and will re-visit again in a few weeks.
Clearly, ejuice experience is one of those things upon which 'your mileage may vary!'

That's a well written review pbx. Could that sour that you experienced be translated as bitter perhaps? Bitter in terms of how coffee is bitter?
I'm interested also in what wattage you were using and whether you adjusted up and down. I find at a higher wattage the Wakonda will produce more of the tobacco flavor and lower wattage will produce a sweeter, yet bitter coffee flavor. Many people never find the tobacco in the Wakonda, while others get it right away. Tanks will also cause a different range of flavors than a dripper will.

Your description of this juice hit it right on the nail of how I feel about it. It has a distinct taste and you either love it or hate it. I too, mix it with CLS (wakonda 25%, CLS 75%) and that's a nice vape for me. But I can't do it straight up. I thought I was the oddball.

Thanks for your review,
Dani

Back when they were hand mixing I got one that had an eggy custard taste over the other flavors and didn't understand why everyone was raving praise about it. Glad I tried it again. Different gear and wattages will vary flavor significantly. Wakonda is my favorite flavor currently.
Sorry it didn't hit for you.

I'm using a mini nautilus on my iStick so 1.7ohms and yes, I did work the wattage up and down from 5 to 17. The higher end was borderline burnt and still just meh - nasty. Lower was less bad...lol I do think that part of it is that I was expecting a creamy coffee taste and got more of a burnt dark roast that sat too long in the pot kind of experience.

Mixed with CLS it's growing on me. Still couldn't handle it solo, though. Kind of like when I first started drinking coffee. Still prefer my coffee as more of a cafe au lait. I've found that with most juices I generally like them best around 4V or around 9/10 watts or a bit lower. Haven't got a device that goes higher than my iStick yet. Not sure I will. At least for now, I don't have time to fit a dripper into my life. If I can't put it in a tank that lasts for a while and go, I'm afraid I'll end up back on the cancer sticks. (uck)

And dani, it's good to have company. :toast:

Shucks! Sorry this one didn't work out for you. You can trade it in the swap thread OR hang on to it for a bit and see if it mellows out for you. I guess this is why they say "taste is subjective" and why we all don't drink our coffee black and love coke instead of Pepsi, etc. Sounds like you might do better with something sweeter and more dessert-ish. Grandma's Cinnamon Danish? Absolute Creme Brûlée? (My personal fave.) Peanut Butter Cookie will be back soon, and that is another great one. Hope something hits the spot - it only takes a couple to keep you going!

The Wakonda is growing on me mixed with the CLS. I now have 3 flavors in my daily rotation which is good. Don't think I'd care for the peanut butter or cinnamon danish but that 'Atlanta' beta from Nicoticket sounds very tempting!

I may have missed this elsewhere, but how long has it been since you quite smoking? If you don't mind me asking.
I am trying to get a sense of where your palate may be as it does take a while for ones palate to return after quitting smoking.
Thanks.

I hope you will like it as much as I do, Dani! PBC and ACB are my mainstay must haves.
With PBC there is a delicate dance of both savory and sweet - whichever one you are craving at the moment, it delivers! The only question for you will be if you like it fresh or if it needs to steep. And it goes with just about EVERYTHING. I like it in The Virus, Wakonda, Cheesecake, Got Cookie .. I am sure I am leaving out something. It's really special and I can't wait for everyone to get to try it.

Wish Scydivalice Xiii was here to protect the sacred vapor thread.
I just ordered a couple more bottles of Wakonda yesterday, but I really wish it looked like this steeped Wakonda. Although if there aren't any available a 500ml would be o.k. Don't want to be difficult so either option is fine. I know, I know, but I still believe in Santa, and comic book heroes.

Oh, Nanny... I LOVE mine steeped. I didn't like it fresh. Boy did it grow on me. It's close to the top 3 of my favorites and I can't wait to get it back.

Take care,
Dani
