I'll see about making a couple out of cedar, not really taking custom orders yet till I get a site up and going. I did start one last night but wont link to it till I hear back from ECF regarding what that does to my suppliers status.

Also... I found an awesome exotic wood supplier only a half hour up the hill from me.
Couldn't afford to get a big selection tonight but I did manage to pick up a few pieces for bodies.

See and I had been thinking about purple heart body woth ebony gaboon caps and inlays. Then I saw the price of ebony... My god!

Your lower grade gaboon ebony (black with much chocolate brown in it) will cost an average of $50 a board foot. Gallery grade gaboon ebony (jet black) will start around $75 a board foot. ;)

Cedar? Man, every wood mod cedar story I've heard ends ugly. Epoxy coat that son'o'gun. -Magnus

I was thinking that cedar was a soft wood...might not do well in the long term, but I guess if was kept at home and treated nicely, it might survive. :)

I skimmed this thread and the mods look great. I am in need of a hardwood for a mod. Something that wont get nicked or cracked if it happens to fall out of my shirt pocket. I know you can't guarantee it won't get damaged, but there has to be woods that are sturdier than others. Colors or designs in the wood is not as important as the wood's durability. So Hogwart, can you help me out with selling me one of your mods?
