The only wood that I have a very difficult time so far with the Shellac/Arm-R-Seal finish is Cocobolo and a little trouble with Bocote. It actually cures well on Wenge and help to smooth it out since it has the deep open grains.
Although after cutting into this Vera wood, I don't think I'd ever get these finishes to cure on that wood. Vera wood is the most waxy wood I have seen to date. I could probably not even apply a finish and just buff the wood itself.

Yeah, give it a buff, I'm good with that on mine. :) I want to see my new babies!!!

I can't wait to all of the choices that people made. The suspense is driving me crazy. Have you decided which one will be numbered 50 yet?
Evening all, no, no porn updates. Got home late, just had time to do a little bit. Got some inlays done. I'm liking this one

Since you asked, #17 had an evil smell inside when new. I couldn't leave a filled joose bottle inside it overnight because it would make the joose taste funky the next day. I left it laid out open for about a week and it mostly dissipated. It still has a faint hint of the scent but it no longer transfers to the joose, and it stays filled/partially filled 24/7. The finish has the perfect gloss/feel, never gets sticky when handled, never shows fingerprints. Would make an awesome squirrel rifle stock finish ;) Of course, now that I'm a ReoNOT it's my everyday work PV. It's picked up a few minor scratches and dings but it seems pretty resilient.

#36 is definitely shinier, but along with that comes more of a tendency to feel sticky after prolonged handling (yeah, I know, headed for the dirty thread ;)). It had no smell inside or out. Knowing cedar was a soft wood when I requested it, Richmond tomorrow will be the first time it's left the house since bringing it to work to show off the first day I had it. I'll never be able to comment on its durability because it will always be babied more than 'ol 17.

But don't worry, Hogfather...you'll be well represented at Vaper Con! :)

I actually think its working fine. My poor hog already has battle scares. But the finish look good. Only thing I will say it with this finish if you have ANY residual liquid on your fingers it shows, and you can feel it. I am constantly cleaning mine. I think on my next one, I would be interested in something more natural, but brings out the wood still.

Hi to all the HOGaholics. Hope everyone's having a good Friday, and an even better weekend. I am LOVING my new HOG here. I got #21 from the classies, from "Landlord." I can't wait 'til my new VV HOG is done and on it's way. Now at least I can wait patiently for my VV HOG, while using this one. I am getting the same wood combo on my VV. I have to give a big thank you to Landlord for parting with this beauty. I also have to give major big big big thanks to Mike for crafting such a work of art. It hits soooooo good, and the feed system is amazing, no leaking at all. LOVE IT. I will post more pics later, and in the HOG family pic album......... No name yet...
