So SS mode isn't too overpowered, my ohms had drifted causing it. Overall the automatic SS mode somehow does work pretty well.

I can't find my kanthal (or even my wicking) since I moved recently, I only have one 0.3 ohm stock coil for the Zephyrus. I will test it tomorrow and see how temperature control for kanthal works out.
with most premade heads, the leads are nickel (non resistance - resistance - non resistance), at least for any that i have taken apart. i'm thinking that tiny bit of nickel in the heads help the wrecker out when trying to tc kanthal. when you find your kanthal and your wicking, then you'll be able to REALLY test it. :2c:

I don't really see how NR/R/NR would help, if anything it seems like it would make it more inaccurate. Interesting line of thinking and I made a comment on one of the review videos about it a couple of days ago.

I don't understand why I can't find my damn kanthal, it's super aggravating. I have never taken a Zephyrus coil apart but I don't think it uses NR/R/NR since it has that ceramic cup it isn't necessary.

The Unkamen 430 28G arrived, video posted later. The short of it is, FSK set to 20 in XXX mode works fairly well. 30 is about 100F too high. Letting the test rig go to ambient before I test in SS mode.
20.0 is way too hot on my dual coil setup, which makes sense. I currently have it set to 14.0 and it feels pretty accurate comparing to a TCR device with the same rta.

Look forward to your results.

Yeah keep in mind the meter advertises +/- 10% plus whatever is going on with the 510 which when shorting the atty posi post to ground post the G2 still reads .03. In SS mode, the meter leveled out at a little over half the set Temp. Set to 700F the thermocouple leveled out at around 360-370F.

I think the main take away for me is you can set the FSK percentage and find a happy spot. Though that setting may change from atty to atty, wire lot to lot or wire vendor to vendor.

The UD 316 wire should arrive by Friday.

Interesting results, I think it's the way the device does temperature protection. I think without a wet wick it is not possible to get accurate temperature readings. Or at least that's the way it seems to me.

Try vaping it with the SS in Auto + TC mode and you will see what I mean. It will be hotter than 360F, or at least for my setup.

Also nice thinking on atomizer resistance, we definitely need an adjustment for this. The older firmware had a way to adjust the resistance but they seem to have removed it.

I'm going to flash the 2.4.3 firmware and see if it's there, it shows it in the PDF manual.

Yep, could be invalid test setup. I've come to the conclusion it doesn't use TCR in Kanthal so that wouldn't surprise me about SS or XXX modes either.

Thanks for the video review, I can only go by mouth/throat feeling for temperature and it's close enough to a TCR device I can't tell the difference.

I usually vape at 420°F, I can feel the difference when I set it to 430° or 410° and it feels the same as my TCR device so I'm very satisfied with the SS performance in XXX mode.

I also would like a real explanation of how the FSK Temp Curve relates to TCR but I doubt hohm tech will explain it without all the attached jargon.

correct, it would make it more inaccurate. but i've noticed with those type coil heads, i'm able to temp control them with a low tcr value (sxk and dna200). you're adding nickle in the coil circuit which pumps up kanthal's sensitivity a bit. the kanger .5 kanthal horizontal heads have let me do this.
where can i find 350's videos on youtube?

You are welcome my friend. I don't have one, but I've heard good things about it.

Cheers,
Steve
I'm not a big follower of RTAs like most people. I have three...Zephyrus, Orchid v3 and a Kayfun.

I just received the Orchid today, 101vape had it for $6 and I was already ordering batteries. I figured why not since I love the Kayfun and Zephyrus. I need the Kayfun to vape NETs.

I haven't built the Orchid yet but it's a nice atomizer for $6, pleasantly surprised.
