OK, I got pure menthol crystals, 153 proof grain alcohol and vegetable glycerin. I want to make my own e-liquid and I don't really care about the nicotine at this point. I tried Bickford's peppermint and it was pretty weak for my taste. I also tried their Creme DeMenthe and it was just OK. I'm going for a really strong menthol liquid that's safe. I figure I can take a small pinch of the menthol crystals and dissolve them in the alcohol, then mix with glycerin and add some Bickford's for flavor.

Can any of you homebrewers help me with proportions? I know narrowing things down to a recipe can be difficult, especially when you are counting drops from a pipette as a way of measuring. Drops can be different sizes depending on the pipette or bottle. I can't find teeny tiny measuring cups for milliliters! Besides, too much ingredient would stick to the cup. I think the closest thing I've found for measuring mls is a syringe. Any input would be most appreciated.

when I made my own (worked out perfectly fine and smoked fine)

Initial Batch:
50% VG
50% PG
Soaked in Cigar tobacco for 48 hours ...
Nothing else used ...

What I would probably do different:

30% PG
50% VG
10% Purest Water You can find (distilled, etc...)
<5% Alcohol
Then whatever you throw in for flavoring.

Remember, VG seems to really mask flavoring for some reason.

Janet, Cash's recipes are good. I've used similar proportions in my experiments (but nothing GREAT has come along yet). I don't use pure PG, since the Bickford flavor of the day has PG in it, and that's enough. I've got more work to do and will post as things work out (or don't!). I want to try letting something like Creme de Cacao absorb the tobacco fluid, then using that as about 10 percent of the final mix.

P.S. Make small batches. Record your proportions and step up if you find the Mother Lode.
