I just got my package of nic juice in (thanks Levy for amazingly fast shipping). Most of what I got was in 50, but I did get one of the little samplers of 100 mg/mL. I vape at a fairly low nic level, anywhere between 5 and 10. I'm still in the discovery phase so I am not making big batches of anything, so I wondered if anyone knew how much nic a single drop of the 100 mg/mL sampler would add to 5 mL base? As a point of reference, it appears to be the "standard" 3 mL bottle that comes in most DIY kits.

Don't have any math magic for you, but I can tell you what I would do.

I'd put on my face shield and drip into a graduated cylinder. I'd count the drops to reach the 2ml or 3ml mark. Then I'd divide the number of drops by the ml's I measured out so I know how many drops are in a ml of that liquid with that bottle. I'd then pour the cylinder back into the bottle and add a label of how many drops it took to equal a ml. (Example: 29d/ml)

I've gotten completely away from using drops as a measure. I've found there are too many differences between droppers, and then add that some liquids are thicker than others so they drop at a different rate, etc.

I just use syringes..1ml for the smaller stuff like nic juice and flavorings and larger for PG/VG. That way everything is measured perfect w/o worrying about droppers.

I also use syringes. I set up a smallish plastic storage box bottom, lined with paper towels, with every thing that I might need inside (syringes labeled with a sharpie, 100mg/mL e-juice, flavorings, distilled water, PG, and VG). This way I never have to turn away from the work or reach for anything. If anything does get knocked over it is contained in the plastic box, small drops of nic that I might not be able to see are absorbed by the paper towel (rather than my sleeve).

Ran that through the "easy e-juice calculator" and it says thats about 8.5mg / ml for that formula (.5ml @ 100mg + 5ml @ 0mg = 5.5ml @ 8.34mg)
0.4ml @ 100mg + 5ml @ 0mg = 5.4ml @ 8mg

So I don't make a mistake when I DIY myself later, how does that math work?

0.5ml of 100mg/ml = 50mg of nicotine.

50mg in 5.5ml (5ml base + 0.5ml nic solution added) = 50/5.5 = 9.09

Similar with 0.4: 0.4*100 = 40mg nic / 5.4ml total =7.407

If you like low nic level, it's too much of a hassle to be accurate playing with 100 mg. I'd bulk downmix it, to give something easier to work with.
Pour the 3 ml of 100 mg into a 10 or 15 ml bottle, add 6 ml of PG and you would have 9 ml of 33 mg concentration. The 33 is then easy to use to make 16.5 mg (1 part other stuff to 1 part nic liquid), or 11 mg (2 parts other stuff to 1 part nic liquid), or 8.25 mg (3 parts of other stuff).
Going to 33 also means you only have to deal with the 100 mg that one time.

Just a thought...

Your math is right to get that total without flavoring added.

If you want to get things right use Scubabatdan's e-juice calculator. It works very well.

That's how i would have calced it on paper but i just ran it through that juce calulator and thats what it said. I only calced it as o flav pg and 100mg nic in the appropriate amounts. I didn't add anything for flav and then triple checked the numbers. Dunno...
