That's EXACTLY how I feel! Hopefully if enough of us complain about that policy they will change it.
Although I am happy that they took care of this for me, that particular policy of theirs does still have me a little gun shy to want to order again not knowing what I might receive instead of what I ordered.
I looked at their FAQ, terms of use, and about us sections on their site and could find nothing regarding a policy of substituting at will.
They do, however, in their FAQ state they use a live inventory system and if it's not in stock, you cannot order it. So this appears to be inconsistent with what is occurring.
3) Why can't I select the color or strength of a particular item?
Our website uses a live inventory system and we do not backorder. If a particular color or strength option does not appear, it means we are out of stock on that item. If the drop down box simply says "Please choose xxx" it means we are completely out of stock on that item.
It's really too bad because I think they have a very good business model if they can live up to it.
Edited to add:
I just received an email from another company I ordered something from. They ended up being out of a particular item. My order shipped without it and the amount was credited back to my card.
Now this is what I expect! Not too much, eh? And it's a new, very small company to boot!
