Hot battery after rebuilding coil

Hi all. Tried searching but I have a situation that I can't find a definite answer to so here it goes. So today I figured I rebuild my coils on my igo-w. I've been vaping on it for a few days. When I was done it ohmd out at .5 on my multimeter. I dried fired it the first time and the coils glowed. Dry fired it a second time and battery and firing button got hot. I pulled the battery out and let it sit to cool (no venting that I was aware of). Correct me if I'm wrong, venting is when the battery leaks gas right? Tried another battery and worked as it should. After the battery that got hot cooled down I put my multimeter to it and it still held a charge (3.9v). It's the first time this has happened after about a year and a half of vaping. So my question is, is it safe to continue using my battery? It seems fine. No expanding. Just hate to see a battery go to waste. Thanks to all in advance for any advice given.

batteries are mnke 18650

When in doubt about a battery, especially one that gets hot....toss it. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Danger !!! Danger !! I would strongly advise that you don't use that coil if it's HOT hot then it sounds like a bad coil not worth the risk

The K101 is not a low resistance mech. It has aluminum parts. That my be a factor. By my calcs your drawing 8 amps. May be that battery is not going to handle it. Sub ohm IMHO is risky. May want to go higher resistance next time.
