Has anyone tried the hot wrapping technique? Specifically for ceramic wicks 1/8"? I want to know how it compares to ss mesh, cotton/ss mesh, etc. I just want a wick that's short-proof, if that's possible. I've been using my genesis for 2 weeks and shorts are my only problem, grrrrr!! This seems like problem free way to make a perfect coil that will last for a long time.

What are you using? I use a AGA-T for one flavor and a AGI for my other flavor. I'm using these new Aluminum Oxide wicks and the FC2000 with groves and they wick great. No tilting needed.
I like the ceramic for the reasons you state but I just can't get the amps up on it like I can cotton as it doesn't stay wet enough.

I'm using the slotted ceramic. It may not be that it's not wet enough it may be that I'm not getting it tight enough. Whatever the case I can only get to about 2.5 amps before the wires will begin to glow red if a take a normal draw.

ceramic does imo produce the best flavor of any wick I have tried to date. it is however a patient endevour. although you will not get ant shorts like in mesh, it is very possible to get a lot of hot spots. these hot spots are coils that are not tight enough on the wick. this is why methods like the elias hot wrap, and the electrical wrap are done. these methods, when done correctly will produce a tight coil which is imperitive with ceramic wicks. cheats like cheese cloth or other types of hybrid configurations helps to close the gaps in the coil if one cannot obtain a tight coil, they work but have there own draw backs, their just not as good as the ceramic only way. so all in all if your looking for an easier set-up then mesh, this might not be the way to go, but what I can tell you is that when you do get it right the ceramic will produce an unbeatable flavor, hands down.

Any ceramic wicks that fit the cobra genesis? I only have the one genesis and it just sits since I got my other rebuildables which use silica. If one fits might be worth a try, otherwise it just collects dust unfortunately.
