Sigh ... guess I'm gonna have to break down and buy a Provari. I'd done a really good job of resisting the urge up until now!

Lava Tube version is next... imagine a VV PV with a dedicated Z-atty for under 200 bucks... the LT may be a better option if you don't already have a ProVari... though I feel the ProVari is a better overall device.

Camino Diablo has Seven of my PV's... TWO of the Red Rockets (my first Production PV at 5V), a Zenesis Standard, ZenBox Mini 5 #1, The CopperHead 7.4v (dual 18500 unregulated tube mod) and a pair of Blue Meanies.

So you're the guy who made the Red Rocket !!

I had seen a pic of one and wondered what the hell was that & who the heck made it .. did a search and couldn't find anything on it.

Now that you're official and all - how about whipping out some pics of these past beauties - Enquiring minds want to know!

That's an interesting thought ... hopefully they will continue to improve the Lava Tube. I don't mind the cost of the Provari and I know it's a great mod - it's the all-in-one single button, menu & endless clicking concept that annoys me.

Is a Buzz Pro version a possibility?

Please keep us posted for the LT version! Then again I'm still waiting for my LT to get here from the UK. They screwed up my order so no vv vaping for me on x-mas :(

Yes, I am the one responsible for the Red Rocket... I'm so ashamed... lol

OK, here's a few blasts from the past...

First up, the 18650 Z-go two tone Brass/Aluminum ... It's a modified eGo head circuit with a 3000mAh user replaceable battery.

ZeGo-bt.jpg

Next up... A bottom feeder tube mod I simply called the Juice PV... The lower button fires the PV... the upper button feeds juice to the atty... holds 6 Ml of juice... it's probably the first juice-feeder PV... especially since the Surge-Tank is STILL not on the market.

juicepv1.jpg

This next one is "Stubby"... I forgot Camino Diablo has one of these too... This was made out of a Harbor Freight Pill fob with a modified eGo head... I made about 30 of these, then they discontinued the Pill fob... end of an era... it took an 18350 or 16340 battery... packed a whollop though!

stubby1.jpg

The Red Rocket was a pain to build... cramming a regulator into a tube with a pair of 14500s is no treat... I made about a dozen of them... some had the first appearance of the Zen Logo.

redrocket.jpg

Then there's the VVZ... a few of these are floating around... its a variable Voltage PV that takes 2 18350 batteries. This used a linear regulator... you could use it for a space heater!

zenvv.jpg

Here's the rare and elusive Z-2... mosfet switched single 14500 with a 510 head that will fit eGo tanks... A couple of these were released into the wild.

z2.jpg

So here's the Z-Go ZT-1... 14500 replaceable battery eGo with a modified circuit... tiny and powerful! I gave this one to Col Gaunt because it wanted to be with it's friend, the zGo 18650...

photo-9.JPG

This is my personal favorite tube mod... the Z-18 ... takes an 18650 battery, lots of fine detail. The second pic is the same PV with one of only two tanks that I've made... These are Ce2 tanks that have NEVER leaked.

photo-10.JPG

photo-8.JPG

And another Z-Go 18650, this time without the brass... there's a bunch of these around...

photo-7.JPG

There's others... but this gives you an idea of how I got here... I can't find a picture of the Blue Meanie, but I will eventually find it... I'm sure I've forgotten others.

Lava Tube is half the cost....but half the options. But from what I watched them doing to it on YouTube, it's a mod you wouldn't mind taking out of the house and worrying about dropping it or getting a scratch on it. All you have with it is voltage, a lockout to keep from changing voltage by accident, and battery check.

The Buzz Pro version will probably be built right into a Buzz Top Cap, turning the Buzz into a hybrid PV... Mike knows I want to talk with him about it... but I will after the holidays. So I still have to get with Mike on that one, but its being kicked around.

Nice! You two putting out a joint mod would be an awesome combination.

Yep .. a PoorVari ! But the 3 button setup is nice. I'd like to see ProVari do something like that - but once a mod becomes extremely popular it seems that (in most cases) the R & D stops and The Production becomes etched in stone.

I hope you got my PM... but I read your earlier post about not replying when wanting on the list...

Funny you post these for the ProVari and Lava Tube... This morning when I was driving into work I was rolling around in my head how I could turn my UFS into a genesis type atomizer, or just build a Genesis type atty for a GGTS. Problem is, I have no way to work stainless steel or aluminum. But I know it can be done. I have a Provari, but don't use it with tanks etc, cause it makes it so big.

an extension tube would be nice.

Yes, and I think it would also make good business sense for Zen too. This way he could just make one model and send them all out as mini's with an extension tube (bigger runs could be made costing less money overall to make the units). This way everyone would have the option of a short or long mod with the ability to choose on the fly.

It would require a redesign to make the mini into extension tube compatible... The diameter would need to increase... It's not really designed for that.

The idea of bigger runs being less dollars per unit doesn't make a huge difference until we get into making them 1000 units at a time.

I was shooting from the hip there :). I agree 100% with you, production would need to be pretty big to get to better cost/unit enough to warrant the redesign. I should have mentioned that in what I said before.

There is some talk of new battery tech that will give approx. 10x battery life, and maybe close (weeks). If this happens you'll be asking for shorter mods

In my full time job, I work in tech transfer for the US Navy, and battery technology always makes its way to military use long before consumer markets... There are impressive new battery technologies on the horizon... A few years from now power density will be a whole different deal...
