Morning everyone! +1 on the 8 o'clock coffee, whole bean ran thru a burr style grinder in a bunn that gets the water up to 200 degrees before even hitting the grinds:drool:
I cant stay away from the classifieds!!! I just bought a vv box mod with batts, charger, tank and 2 cartos last night for a buddy for $30, hes gonna be pumped! Not to mention I bought a 2nd DID that should arrive monday. After a week with the DID Im hooked, to genesis attys, bout the only bad thing I can say about every genesis atty out there is the tank capacity...Maybe its just cuz I got a new toy and am just vaping way to much but I have to fill up the did almost 2x a day, but is sooo goood!! So Ive decided when I make my own Im gonna make em nice n' fat with a 26650 batt so they can hold about 10-15mls. Thinking 6061 T6 aluminum because if it were SS it would be like carring a brick around... Heck my provari feels like it weighs more than my silver bullet with an extention sleeve. Pretty much stealing a lil bit of every genesis atty design out there, especially like the Hellfire's hidden oring design. Gonna be just a hair fatter than my silver bullet.

The reason Im making them is because I know I want at least like 5 genesis attys and so does my dad. About 5 more of my friends said they wanted to try em. So if you figure around $120/genesis, thats about $1800...So glad I bought a lathe:)

Use aircraft aluminum.....that's stronger and much lighter....yet more expensive.

Key to the best tasting genny is a small tank!
How does the tank size affect the vape?
I have noticed that a slight air gap above the juice helps the negative pressure for wicking, pretty much only filling up the tank 3/4 the way which mean even less juice in the tank. Under 2mls.

I think you're right, monty. All of that crap thejager has been going through would be lessened by a fiar degree with a smaller tank. 5 ml in the Standard give plenty of time for caramelized crap to run back down into the tank. Not so much with a 3 ml tank. I never put much more than 3.5 in my Standards.

I still personally think the problem he (thejager) is facing is quite possibly the coils being too loose on the wicks. While they shouldn't be "tight" per se, too loose will also cause problems. This type of problem would also be easy to carry to the various different devices mentioned.

I made that mistake once, and with the cap off, you could actually see the liquid bubbling / boiling on the coils, this is not what you want, and will absolutely cause the symptoms described..

You talking about 7xxx series??

Aluminum Grades Series 7xxx

Zinc, in amounts of 1 to 8% is the major alloying element in 7xxx series aluminum alloys (7075, 7050, 7049, 710.0; 711.0 etc.), and when coupled with a smaller percentage of magnesium results in heat-treatable alloys of moderate to very high strength. Usually other elements, such as copper and chromium, are also added in small quantities. 7xxx series alloys are used in airframe structures, mobile equipment, and other highly stressed parts. Higher strength 7xxx aluminum alloys exhibit reduced resistance to stress corrosion cracking and are often utilized in a slightly overaged temper to provide better combinations of strength, corrosion resistance, and fracture toughness.

This is what worries me, altho Im sure its not enough to affect anything, but Im no expert and still leaning about machining and metals every day.

True. If I am to make a mistake when wrapping, I'd rather make it on the "too loose" side. I have burned my lips from wrapping too tight. The whole coil is one big short.

His problem is clearly in something he is doing. He has tried every device/battery/juice combination in the book.

im not saying either of you are wrong...only thing is that i have done purposely tight, and purposely loose coil tries...just to see what happens...i believe i am where i shoudl be with my coils...still i took a night off last night from worrying with it...hopefully today or tomorrow ican get back into it and figure out the issue

i definitely think it is somethign in my own process ..as the problem moves from device to device...only issue is that there are lots of variables

Jager-

Rat and I were rappin' about this last night in a lil f2f vape pow wow.

The OB had mentioned vaping position.

Rat had been vaping some caramel based juice all afternoon, about 2 hours longer than I had been vaping the EXACT same juice. Mine was dark brown. His was almost the OG colour.

What did we do different?
I was perhaps almost def. over wicking - that is continuously holding perpendicular. He had relaxed down to a 4/5 oclock hold.

Also make sure your wick isnt too long and touching the top cap

i will definitely look into it...though i have to say i have switched it up quite a bit....and the worst seemed to be when i was more vertical...as i believe whatever the gunk is is just falling via gravity through the wick...the more at an angle the less gets into the tank...though it just dumps right in when i set it down upright

And I have been 4/5 o'clock with this tank that hasn't darkened.
