Good info elf, those that read everything should come up with the same conclusion. However there are so many that just read one study and take it as gospel truth. Those same people hear a story on the 6 o'clock news about wheatgrass being a cure for cancer and coffee causing cancer and they believe it. They even go as far as quitting their morning coffee and switching to wheatgrass. Do you think they are gonna be that much healthier if they do those 2 things yet continue to smoke???? Some people will believe anything that is on the news even if it is proven to be false 6 months later. There is a huge propensity for folks to hear something, form an opinion, and hold that false thought for the rest of their lives. Even though they have heard the new studies that prove it wrong. That is why it is important to get it right the first time.

Sorry....don't know what got into me.

I take issue with the remark about studies showing nicotine causes hypertension or atherosclerosis.

There are no long term, clinical studies showing that.

There is lab evidence that nicotine is a vasoconstrictor, but no evidence that vasoconstrictors cause hypertenstion (i.e. chronic, self perpetuating elevation in blood pressure) but rather transient, mild increases in blood pressure.

There is evidence from small experimental human studies with small numbers of subjects showing that in smokers, nicotine administration alters vascular reactivity (basically blood vessels constrict in an abnormal way), but one such study shows that in non-smokers nicotine does not have that effect.

There are the famous studies done retrospectively, that's true, on the Swedish Snus cohorts showing that use of tobacco alone (which we may consider reasonably worse than nicotine alone) does not significantly increase risk of hypertension, coronary disease, etc. It does show a moderate increase in the risk of diabetes. There is also a smaller increase in heart failure which, in my opinion, is confounded by the significantly higher proportion of alcohol abusers in the Snus users than in the non-Snus users.

There is recent data presented at the European cardiology meeting showing vaping causes no acute myocardial dysfunction. Just like the ones above, this does not prove vaping does not increase long-term risk of heart disease - a long term, clinical study is needed for that - but provides a workable hypothesis that this is the case.

There is a plethora of small experimental studies, these days, showing questionably relevant physiologic parameter changes with vaping or nicotine exposure. These are bad science from the get-go, but I won't get into that. These small studies do not really prove anything whatsoever. Nothing. Yet they are quoted amply both in the mass media and in policy making circles as "evidence" of "presumable harm".

SO STOKED!!!!! I've been trying to find a zen with no luck for over a month now. Creeping the hoh site and here and I was feeling amlittle down because the money I had saved for my zen got spent by my darling wife. So I am feeling down driving home, then I pull in the driveway and see a package. From zen?? Oh my box. I open it and I got a cd from the wild geese???? But there was a small blue bag. As soon as I got it in my hand I knew what it was. ....... ThTs right my own no zen owning ... won the zau. Woo hoo. I'm so stoked I'm shaking while typing. Now I need a caravella. Thanks so much you guys. This is my favorite thread in any forum.

SOOOOOO glad to hear you got that! It's awesome that it went to someone Zenless.

I go through this with my mom all the time. One day we're eating eggs and it's fine. The next day they're worse than smoking. Don't even get me started on the butter vs. margarine thing!

Thanks everyone that commented about the show the other night. I warned ya. I got no content.... I know nothing. LOL Just having some fun hanging out.

I have been using the blackened with yellow headlines for a long time now. I would like to see a Black and Light Blue. Would be a nice combo. I find it hard to read for very long on a white screen with black type. But then again if I look at a mini-blind that is half open with sun shining on it I get a weird migraine aura and feel dizzy. It happens when driving thru the shadows of trees in the spring and fall too. Also from strobe lights and other flashing things. Weird huh?

Has anyone recently had a health examination for insurance? I found out today I need to do one and they told me premiums are much more expensive for smokers. I am not a smoker but she said it detects nicotine. I usually vape 3-6ml a day of 12mg juice, and am going to grab one of those self test things tomorrow but was wondering if anyone had some knowledge on the matter.

just so you know, most life insurance companies are well aware of e cigs and the benefits of using them over analogs... that being said I know they offer rates for alternative nicotine use and although the rates are typically higher... it is def less then premiums for a smoker.

I am a vaping banker offering my 2 cents lol. :2c:

Fellow ZEN~ers, Sorry about the earlier post :( hope I didn't offend anyone. I had nothing but good intensions but it was not well thought out post, again I'm sorry if I offended anyone by my earlier post and I hope you guys can forgive me. :)

Don't worry, dogg... If I worried about whom I offended, they'd have kicked me out of here months ago. Don't even get me started on Ian... Sheesh.

You did nothing that you need to apologize for. Did you get batteries? I've been a little fuzzy and can't remember. Hope you enjoy that Zen~ :)

Did they make the Zap announcement and I just missed it in the myriad of posts?

Sent from my SGH-T989D using Tapatalk 2

It was announced that Provape will be selling the ZAP. It will be a few more weeks before you can buy. The sale date and time will be announced on Provape's facebook page, and from the HOH site email notification.
