Provari or otherwise, I'm getting some side button thing and a Zatty and finding some alternative juice system I can throw in a purse for travel.

I've said it a couple times in this thread, but a Vivi Nova works surprisingly well. Say... 90% of an average genesis, 75% of a Zen device if you strip the wick/coil and build an SS-mesh wick with your own kanthal coil.

I recommend roughly 3-4 wraps on a standard 3.7v device (the ends of the coil are MUCH longer than on a genesis to reach down through the head to the electrical contacts.)

With an SS-mesh wick your vapor taste is roughly the same as a genesis device. Air flow and vapor production are not, but they're not terrible either.

I'd say I got roughly 2x the flavor and 1.5x the vapor out of a rebuilt vivi compared to stock, and no nasty silica flavor (or health worries about breathing singed silica).

The actual rebuild process is trivial if you've been working with a Zen device. Exact same wick creation / oxidation process, you just have to shape it into a U. Wrap the coil before you mount it on the head. Pull one lead down to each side of the head. Thread the insulator ring over ONE lead (one lead through the O, the other on the side) then put in the plug. Bend/break off the extra leads and your'e done.

When I syringe in more juice, even if the tank isn't full, it seems like air pressure is forcing juice up the wick and out all over the head of the device. I'm assuming that's because the syringe needle is almost exactly the size of the fill hole and creating a mostly air-tight seal.

(using the syringe shipped with the ZAP)

Any easy suggestions for remedy?

Insert needle all the way and push fast.....not slow. Watch your level because it may look like its not full on one side but it is on the other because you not holding it level, as the juice reaches the top.

vapourninja, also hold the device at about a 45 degree angle with the wick on top.... stop when there's a small air bubble, and like crypto said it's counterintuitive, but the faster you splooge, the less comes out.
