You may find it isn't hitting it's full potential with having done just that. But if it's working well and you're happy, that's great. When Mike puts out the "kick kits", I'm sure it'll hit much harder.
Did you sand the whole length of the tube or just were the kick would sit?
You only need to sand part of the tube so that the kick spring makes contact with bare metal.
What is a "kick kit"? I was under the impression that a kick would work with the SW by default. Thats why I was so bummed that they won't work without moding the tube.

not the whole length.The kick fits in mine real snug and it ain't goin to be movin around so I did about 1/2 the diameter inside the tube and the very bottom 2 or 3 threads inside too,that's where the ground spring ends up when in the sidewinder

i thought i was gonna finally meet a man that i thought was a bud. it turns out that the ob is nothing more than a grumpy old man with no sense of humor, trapped in a young man's body. if i never see him again, it will be too soon.
Ripple is really an angry old hippy with an annoying laugh that is more of a cackle. he has no sense of humor and is very stand-offish.
vicsan IS that nasty, fur flying, aggressive lady that she is here. there's a reason i didn't hug her goodbye. i hid until she left.
andyman, kcos, CB, and yvilla, put in very little effort at the table and i think they were all drunk.
Paislia and Mookie- i'd like to post my experiences with them but it can't go in this forum. just know that one of them is flexible to the point of being double jointed and the other is very into whips and leather.
jonnyblatt and Janessa acted like they were movie stars and you couldn't even talk to them unless you paid for an autograph.
crypto, chief, landlord, and illustrated man.... you could shake up this lot and pick one... i couldn't stand any of these jerks.
readmermaid comes of as a nice lady here, but in person she is very "cold".
i was working as legal consultant to unfettered for the purpose of marrying off her daughter by setting up a dowry list but i think that she blew me off in order to hire the firm Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe.
Mike is brutal. when customers came up to him in order to ask questions he did not even acknowledge them. he didn't spend 5 minutes trying to help people with their new PVs. he just blew them off in a "not my problem... your problem" kind of way.
now i'll get to the boys i got stuck hanging out with because i drew the short straw...
Ian is a nasty ba$tard who never thinks of anyone but himself. he's one of those guys who sees a car crash and laughs about it.
jongault is not intelligent or funny and can hardly get through a sentence without saying that he wants more wine. i knew there was a reason that i didn't like him before we went. i was right.
K-man is another one who isn't concerned with the happiness or welfare of others. when i told him that all i wanted in the world was a BAM, he said, "you should have bought one when Mike posted them". i asked him for help and he said, "screw you". he's cheap and stuck us all with the check at most of our dinners. if he ever offers to share a room with you, just say "no"!
all i got was this second rate PV that i'm not even sure that i like....
if i forgot to mention anyone, please imagine that i'm giving you the finger right now...

Mike said they would work with a kick but he never said they would work with a kick "today," lol. I don't want to spill the beans on what he has planned. I don't want to say that he said it would be this and then put out something different because he had a better idea for something that worked better. So, for now, I would suffice it to say that he will have a way for everyone to get the kicks firing in their sidewinders soon.
With regards to modding the tube, there isn't really any modding. It's just like any other PV that takes a kick. If it has a finish over the metal you have to strip the finish so the kick can ground. It only takes a minute and really isn't that big a deal.
My feet have that effect on many....
