Brand new AW battery, the plastic insulation has melted in such a way that the screw does not go back and foreword anymore
If I would know how to get that plastic replaced, I could probably fix it, but was worries me more: how the hell did this happen???? I am kind of shocked, the unit got so bloody hot, it scared me.....

I'm way behind... Don't know if you've figured out how this happened yet, but didn't you mention earlier that you removed the wick insulator? I remember Zen~ saying this was a no no... Could that have caused this?
