Ah, well,

It's wonderful how far the technology has advanced & the pace at which it continues is..., breathtaking!

Here is what I know: No matter how much fussing it takes, no matter how many work-arounds & cob-jobs, I've embraced vaping forever.

I am 55 years old, smoked pack & a half to 2 packs a day for over 38 years. I was holding my mother's hand, alone, just the two of us at her home, when she died from COPD. Swore I'd quit the day she died & couldn't. Knew I was doomed to die with a cigarette in my hand - my fate, no choice.

Fast forward a year or so and I found out about vaping. I've been free of cigarettes for 2 1/2 years now & will never go back, now that I've found vaping.

To me, it's just a miracle....

Congratulations!

I too have embraced vaping for as long as it takes! What a touching story, and I am thrilled that you- along with so many others have found vaping. Tobacco has some long arms. I was smoking a pack and a half a day for 10 years. Last Christmas, my 10 year old daughter told me that she would gladly forgo all of her presents if I would stop smoking.

I didn't have the willpower to do it. It made me feel so powerless I couldn't even to it for my sweet daughter. In February of this year I discovered vaping. Early March I received my Volt starter kit. Since I unpacked that lifesaving package, I havent had a single cigarette. I am absolutely elated as is my daughter. I've kicked it forever, and I'm having a blast doing it. I feel like the luckiest guy in the world. :D

gotta admit..
I never had any problems regarding the switch

but on the other hand,

325 x 325 mesh on 100% VG juice (gorilla juice) is good when it works. I might be rolling it too tight, using the syringe that came in the AYS packaging. I supposed the same size syringes are shipped..
So yeah, i guess my 3/4 wrap burns my coil super fast and the juice is too thick..

so how many mm of 325 x 325 mesh do you guys use? I do eyeball it on the 400 and it's perfect all the time.

While the magnets weren't acting terribly for me, I thought I'd just give the spring modification a try :) I found that the springs offer more resistance than the magnets once I made the swap. I wasn't having issues with getting the switch to fire with the magnets, I was just worried about how little pressure it took to get it the switch to fire when the magnets were still in, that's all :toast: To me, it's just a matter of preference, I may go back to the magnets at some point :)
sobero4,

Why did you change to the spring? Was it because of worrying about accidental firings or did you have contact/firing issues?
I'm curious 'cause I've been fighting firing issues from the get-go, which I think I finally solved with a slightly longer screw.... Just curious, as so few will admit to having issues...

Don't get me wrong - I love my Mini but I've struggled with firing issues from the beginning & only recently discovered others in the thread (like Ma'am & emonty) admitting same....

Quick pic from earlier today - really enjoying the Titanium and "clear" combination.

H'lo, zygote,

Don't have one, so I have no experience but they seem like a good value - inexpensive way to make a first foray into Genesis atty's, yes?
Inexpensive enough to try?.......damn anxious to get my zen and do not want to buy cr...p. Maybe I will just wait for the real deal.

I bet sobero has a better idea than me- I've just used the included wicks so far. I'm sure you have watched it already but Zen shows how he rolls his wicks in his coil making video that's linked in the FAQ. Wish I had a better answer for ya!

i reroll it over a 20ga needle, install it so it's not touching bottom, clip off the end close to the top of the button head screw, but not over it... easy. i use the 325 for 50/50 or greater vg and havent had a problem...truth be told, depending how much i vape, i havent had a problem with 100% vg even with the 400...but chain vaping, 400 you'll get a lot of dratty hits

I'm currently using 3 zenified apv's.....2 have 400 mesh, and one has strictly 50/50 juice in it, my mini (same 'original installed' wick since march).... the z-atty-g I swap out different stuff all the time, frequently have 80/20 or 70/30 pg/vg in it... my standard has had the same 325 wick in it since february....both my z-atty-pro's will be installed with 325 as well...

Actually, I vape Gorilla Juice with 325x325, and I had some vapor production issues, and lots of burnt dry taste even with 4/5 coils, then I watched Zen's video again and when he clipped off the wick he mentioned some people having success leaving it longer especially with VG. That's not an exact quote, and he mentions it in passing, but I tried leaving my wick a mm or 2 taller than the center post, so it extends past the top of the coil a good little bit. Voila! Vape Heaven. With the preinstalled coil and the first 325x325 wick I installed myself I kinda wondered what all the fuss was about, as my 306's were giving me better vapor production. Once I put a new wick in and left it longer, big billowy white clouds of tastiness. I can't overstate the difference I'm finding. Maybe its coincidental, maybe my second coil was just better all around, but it doesn't look like it. So I highly recommend giving it a try.

Thanks fili and shai

I gotta find me a paperclip then..
no shorts, no hotspot, not touching anything. maybe im guilty of chain vaping. I did un-roll one 325 x 325 in the package just to get an idea about the width. I didnt use it though as i prefer making my own.. maybe i'll loosen up the way im rolling it next time i make one

trip out though.. dry hits on the bobas and gorilla juice i got not too long ago but no dry hits on butterscotch from COV. I tried the juice for the hell of wicking (old stash), and no, im not a fan of cov butterscotch lol.

last thing, any decent multimeter yall can recommend? I feel like fleebaying right now.

tried that.. i mean it's not like it doesn't work. I just have to change the way i pull.. So yeah i ordered a sheet of 325 x 325 which should be here anytime now. I'm not using the one in the package i probably lost it already.. However i really appreciate the fact that there are some included in the package..

Smelly cat food out in hopes Ruby Doo comes along. I'm beat...calling it a night. What a wuss I am.

You're not a wuss... just a sad mommy with a missing baby. :( I'm so sorry about Ruby-kitty!!

Now that one of ours has discovered "The Secret Knowledge" (that they can jump 6X their body length; and hence reach the top of the walls around the backyard), they have lost all outdoor privileges until I can affix 45-degree "cat-discouragement" trellis pieces to the top of the walls.
