Hi everybody! I haven't caught up on the thread for a couple days but I need to ask a question. The wick in my ZAU keeps sliding down and touching the bottom. I'm pretty sure it's because the crappy job I did on the coil. I'm getting ready to put a new coil on it. Any tips on how to keep it from sliding down? At first I thought I was touching the top of the wick when I was putting the cap on....but that's not what's happening. Any thoughts?

maybe when you go to recoil it, you can remove the wick and reroll it but slightly thicker? then just roll it smaller a bit at a time till it just slides in nicely.

If your going to get drunk, Zombie drunk is the way to go.. Shows a real commitment to the craft.. Those morning after's without the hangover are a blessing and serve to make us drink more to figure out why we get away with it once in a blue moon.. :2cool:

Yea I agree but don't think I'll be doing that again for a long time.. friggin whiskey

Just use the same wick but try to make it bigger? OK, I can try that. Now, when you coil a wick....do you try to have the Kenthal touching but not "squeezing" the wick, right? Because that's what I did when I had to coil it last time (the only time, I might add).

If you think back to your first few coils, I hope I'm not the only one that finished with the coil looking like a 1st grader did the job! LOL Mercy. And, I'm not getting TONS of vaper, either. I'm using 4 coils right now...so maybe that's it.

I'm only one ahead of you in coil making.. My 2nd one was better, snug enough to the wick to make good contact but it didn't pinch it in anyway (under a magnifier glass).. I did use a paperclip on the 2nd one & it was much easier?

Also, I will no longer reply to WTBs ever again.

Aww Jolly - this makes me sad. I will never forget how wonderful I thought you were when you responded to my WTB for a 510 SD, and we ended up trading my 901 SD for your 510 SD. I still treasure it, and the great feelings the whole transaction engendered.

ok...this I forgot to show (I know, pics or it didnt happen..), Mad Murdock's Radiator Pluid (courtesy of K-man..thanks again Tony ;)), in my newly cleaned and dry-burned Ti (swapped glowy o-rings with my black provari/zap combo)... the smell reminds me of Nyquil lol....but, it tastes citrus-y and slightly anise flavored (close, as it's absynthe with other flavors involved)....I'm gonna have to vape all 10mls to see if I like it or not, right now I'm not sure as of yet...very strong flavor...nic content is just a bit higher than what I'm normally vaping atm...

your coil should help hold the wick in place, even if its loose in the insulator, as the coil should be snug but not 'tight'.... too loose and it will do as ya posted

on a further note, I tried a couple teaberry vapes yesterday too (very tasty).... rat made a bottle of his recipe yesterday for me, and I just dripped some in my 901 atty topped Empire....you can smell wintergreen, bigtime....taste is strong, reminds me a lot like those pink losenge 'after-dinner' mints my grandparents used to have in a candy dish when I was knee-high-to-a-grasshopper...

Pinch it between your fingers and run your fingers down it.
Or just cut it out.

That's what I did Keegan, it helped some. I think I need to unroll the rest of the Kanthal from the cardboard and put it on a spool or something round. Thanks :)

I left the paperclip in it Shaitaan, and it allowed me to make the coil a little tighter than I might have otherwise. Thanks!

OK, I have it coiled and it IS vaping, but it's not like the vaper I see in some of your pics where there are CLOUDS. But, I'm going to change the battery out and see if that helps.

I so much appreciate all the help I get on here folks. I'm out of here for now. Thanks so much!

I'm sure we have all been there......my first few coils were WAYYYY too tight.....wound up making my wick look like a screwwith all the kinks and bends in it. you want it snug but not gripping the wick...you need room to be able to move the coils around a bit. Just go slow....wrap the first coil and then adjust it to a loose position before wrapping the next wrap.

Pinch it between your finger and thumb nail and run your nail down it pulling tight as you go. It will curl a little but there will be no more kinks. Just slowly stretch it out again by pulling a little bit lighter but the same way.

One more question, sorry. What do you do about the kinks in the Kanthal?
