Hi All,
I'm still having an issue with my top cap. I figure once I solve this i can move on to the coil issue. So my new Ash top cap comes off with little to sometimes no effort. I was wiping her down with a paper towel and the cap just came off and landed on the carpet. I took the clear tank off and reseated that. someone suggested that it might not be seated all the way down. I still can remove the top cap by just brushing up against it with my thumb. Maybe its me. I replaced that Oring with one of the replacements I ordered. I guess I'll post a vid later on today to see if anything looks awkward to the pro's around here.
Thanks,
Chris
Some early adopters had similar issues. Hadn't heard that one in a while. The juice should make the O ring swell to the proper size.
Here's a tip that others have used. Remove the top O ring. Wrap a piece of cotton thread---like sewing thread, around the channel that the O ring fits into. Tie it off. Replace the O ring. Vape. -- The volume of the thread will help take any play out of that O Ring and give you a nice snug fit. Zen~ pointed out that bag pipers do this and call it hemping.

Okay. For those still getting a metallic taste. That is often a short. If it's a mild metallic taste, it can be a very minor short. This is more common with a new coil in part because Kanthal actually oxidizes as you use it. Some of what we call "break in" is the Kanthal becoming oxidized, and some of it is getting a bit of build up on the wick.
If it's a mild metallic taste, it will likely get better with use, which is to say it will go away as the Kanthal oxidizes and provides more insulation between wick and coil. To speed the process. Pop the top cap, tilt the APV so the wick is soaked and pulse the fire button. Repeat if necessary. If you're still getting a metallic taste, you made need to adjust your coil. I've posted Zen~ coil video at least 3 times. It's worth watching, as he shows clearly and methodically why and how to adjust a coil.
I'm glad for all the ASH folks out there. It's nice to see a special run of APVs aimed at those who were without. You'll get it dialed in.
