it is considerably better. it's crazy but the Provari mini/ZAP combo is noticeably smaller. K-man uses this combo sometimes. but my heart beats faster for a BAM now....

Even the mini/zap combo isn't something I like running around with. It's great, but I prefer something a bit more discreet when I'm out and about.

i'm coming from a similar place. as a beta tester for the ZAP, one of my comments was, "the consistency of the vape throughout the battery makes this thing SUPERIOR"...
now i'm in a place where i think, "how tough is it to keep an 18350 or two in your pocket?"...
NOW, ALL I WANT IN THE WORLD IS A MINI!!!
for me, it's all about the form factor. a ZAP is still bigger than a standard. with an 18650, it's comparable to a Louisville Slugger. i'm thinking that a mini is perfect when you're not at home....
i think, and i'm not 100% sure, that kcos likes hers....

I have a box of 3 spare batteries in my pocket most of the time. I am a fireman and if it were not for the fact that it is very difficult for me to keep my PV's in an upright position while on a call, I'd probably sell the rest of my Provari's and replace them all with Mini's. When I at home or at the station, I always have my Mini either in my hand or arms reach away. The main reason I have the ZAP's and Provari's is to be able to enjoy the excellent vape from a Zen devise but still be able to slap a carto tank on there for the times that just can't carry a Zenesis with me.

Oh, and is it wrong for me to be standing at a pump panel enjoying a wonderful vape while the rest of the guys are eating smoke?

I was asked the other day if I had a full-size ProVari with extension cap & ZAP in my pocket. Odd thing is, I don't even own that combo...

I dunno what Rat's problemo is. I travel with a standard or a Zap on the extendo light saber * all the time *

the only problem i have is when you show up at my house with a tennis ball on a string and ask me to help you recreate the scene when Luke is training with the lightsabre drone on the Millenium Falcon.....

Yea, Louisville Slugger is right. I love the vape, but it's just not portable. I'm somewhat concerned that even a provari mini won't be terribly portable... Provari builds their mods like a brick sh**house. The electronics add size, the tube is thick heavy steel.

WTB aluminum or titanium 18650 sized... sigh.

Edit: massage for the profanity filter

Just a size comparison. The Provari Mini with an 18350 is the length of the top cap longer that a SS Zenesis Mini.

Me too j_fro. I carry my full size ProVari in 18650 extended mode topped with the incredible ZAP everywhere. I just could not see myself vaping anything else. I will be getting another one just before Christmas, and I will have all that I could ever need for vaping. I would never need anything for stealth vaping as I always have this with me and never have a nic fit anymore.

Folks,

I've got to add one ringing endorsement for the Sidewinder. In a nutshell...

VV is ok. You can fine-tune to get your perfect vape, then 'just vape it.' With a Provari, you'll get consistent performance through the life of the battery.

The not-so-good side of it is... coil resistance changes. I've had the SAME coil go from 3.0ohm to 3.5ohm down to 2.5ohm... depending on how dirty it is. Prior to my last dry burn I was hovering around 3.5. I cleaned the hell out of it last time my tank was empty, refilled it, took a hit, took a second hit... and nearly scorched myself on the world's driest hit. The resistance had dropped to 2.5, and at the voltage I was running it nearly popped.

If you want to 'just vape it' ... once you find what you like, a variable WATTAGE device is probably a better call. It will dynamically adjust the voltage to produce the consistent experience you want, which will carry across coils, wraps, dirty, clean, etc. About the only time you might want to change it would be if some juice tastes better/worse at different power levels. Me? I don't bother. The only time I fiddle with my provari voltage is to get back to that 'sweet spot' when something changes.

So.

The Kick turns anything into a variable wattage. The sidewinder has a slotfor a kick. The Sidewinder wins.

Question for the pros...

Does a Zen standard have room for a kick if you use 18490 instead of 18650?

(not that it matters. I'd want aluminum or titanium, and all of Zens' current aluminium devices are minis. And even if I sell organs, firstborn children, AND my soul I don't think I can get my hands on a TI :p ... especially since Zen has made his feelings clear about people selling for more than they paid)

here's, the thing about the kick. it's constantly allowing a small amount battery drain. that's one of it's flaws. if you leave it in a device without use for several days, you may come back to a very low battery. this has been confirmed by two savvy vendors, and i have experienced it first hand. that said,I still love the kick.
