Morning all

So I have had my ZAP for a bit now and have a slight problem. I can handle the airy draw ... thats fine but It seems like my ZAP hits harsh compared to anything else. Mind you this is my first genny so maybe thats just how they are?

I dont see any hotspots and have a 2.2Ohm coil that is harsh even at 3.7V.

I had a bad tooth pulled yesterday so its either analogs or the Zen for the time being until i heal a little but I just cant do the harshness.

If no one can help me make this better then Im going to see about trading it for an empire mod and go back to dripping I think

Thanks guys

Clark, what do you mean by harshness? Is it a burned, metallic taste? If so, you probably have a short. My suggestion to you is to take the time to watch Zen's video on youtube here: Z-ATTY-PRO Rebuildable Atomizers For ProVari - YouTube

Empty the juice from your tank and follow the instructions. Trust me, it's worth the little bit of effort to learn how to use it; a dripping atty doesn't come close to the z atty.

I watched the vid about 10 times before I even got my ZAP and a few times since.

I vape at approx 3o'clock with the airhole lined up with the wick. My wick doesnt touch the bottom or the topcap best I can tell.

The harshness I really think is just that the vapor is too hot for my tastes. Ill see about getting a pic. I dont know how to post them off my phone so Ill have to go dig out the camera once the vicodin kicks in a little better. Right now my mouth hurts pretty bad.

Lets start here.
Pull the top cap off, hold it at 3:00 and fire it, then post what you see. Are any coils glowing, lot or a small amount of vapor, do you see juice bubbling on the coils, etc...

Shaitaan, I hope you feel better. I have had high blood pressure for years. I usually push a healthy 150/100. I let it go unchecked for the last 5 or so years. Definitely not a good thing. A few months ago, a new doctor prescribed me a pill (lisinopril) and within two days my pressure came down to normal, if not slightly below normal. No one suggested a cardiologist and I haven't dropped dead yet. I think you'll be fine.

Regardless, best of luck and feel better.

I tried Champix to quit smoking. It pushed my blood pressure to 180/120. My doc said to get off them and have a cigarette. I've been on BP pills ever since. Get some BP pills TODAY Shai, and then your ..... to Rochester. Your ride will be waiting!

Good morning everyone :)

Lots of bubbling means your actually flooding the wick. Which is much easier to deal with than a short..

Try pinching off the very top of your wick, and lowering the angle to 4:00 and see what that does.. :toast:

At the 3.7V I had it at at 3o'clock I was seeing light vapor and a lot of bubbling juice.

Upped it to 4V and get a lot more vapor, some bubbling, nor glowing even after tripping the button time on the provari 3x in a row now glowing

When I first switched to genny's I thought it was harsh as well, and my first wasn't a Zenesis, the second was though. It took about 4-5 days of taking short draws and inhales before my throat got use to the different style of vapor. I believe it's because a genny does such a better job at vaporizing the juice and providing a clean/pure experience. Now I never have a harsh hit and nothing has really changed, except for me and my getting acquainted with the genny way of vaping.

May sure your tipping if far enough that you wick is submerged in the juice while vaping. If you over tip you will get flooding and your complaint will then be too little vapor, so there is a sweet spot for vaping a genny and once you know where that it it will be second nature to find that sweet spot no matter how much juice you have in your tank.

If your using a high PG juice at a relatively high nic level, your throat hit will be strong on a genny, again due to the better vaporizing style of a genny. Many if not most, end up reducing their nic levels while using gennys.

If there are no shorts just vape at 3 o'clock till it goes away. And at a lower setting. It WILL go away. I've experienced the same thing with more than one new Zenesis. It WILL get better once the wick is broken in and it's wicking properly.

My wick is pinched from day one to reduce color change. I didnt want the juice in the tank turning dark so fast so I pinched the top of the wick off. Ill try vaping it lower than 3 ... maybe 4 or 5? 3 is where Ive always vaped even long before this genny ... probably due to smoking habits.

The juices I have are typically 50/50 and 12-18mg fruit flavors. I have pluid in it currently though. Im thinking its probably just how genny's are and idk if its something Im going to be able to get used to. Im not a TH fan at all really.

Because of the draw of this Zen I have been doing lung hits and it almost feels as though Im breathing super heated air. Its hot exhaling even.

The change of angle did help with vapor production however so I do think I was over tipping it and flooding it. Wish I could make it to VC2 and have one of you experts play with it in person ... lol

i agree with the advice that the others have given. the stainless wick often takes a day or two to "wick" properly. for a short time, make sure your APV is almost parallel to the ground (3 o'clock). it will get better. promise...

Thats what Ive kept thinking ... it takes a day or two ... but Ive put probably 20-30mls of juice through it at this point and nothing has really changed.

I change flavor about every tank. Could dry burning between every tank be causing any harm? I just figured that if I dry burn between tanks I wont have crud build up problems

Should really be no need to dry burn with everything being so new..
I have a wick and coil going that I haven't dry burned or cleaned in any way in just over 4 weeks now...
If you're seeing the juice bubbling, and you said your wick is already pinched, just keep decreasing angle to 4 and if that doesn't solve it lower to 5.
Also, how hard are you "drawing" on it? Should be taking pretty light pulls.

Im pulling light enough that the only thing I hear while vaping is crackling and popping. I couldnt figure out how to pull slow enough to not whistle while pulling in to my mouth first so I started pulling straight in to my lungs. Ill also stop dry burning it. Maybe that is part of the problem

I've had a few wicks early on that seemed to get a little brittle from it.
Since I've stopped dry burning, at all, I haven't noticed any decrease in performance.
That said, whether or not you "should" is probably more related to the liquid being used as some leave more "residue" than others. Mine (primarily DIY) tend to vaporize very clean..

dry burns won't hurt anything, but i don't do them too often because when you switch flavors, they don't really linger on the stainless.
