For anyone who is interested...

Last question... do you find that it's safe NOT to keep upright like that? I've got ... some-other-genny that has a coverable fill hole that I accidently overstuffed with a wick, and not only does it perform as you've described... but I can safely lay it on its side.

Does that work on a zen?

there are litterally hundreds of videos on how to roll a wick...impossibly easy. although my take is that everyone overdoes it with quenching and such.... i just burn the wick unrolled, roll wick up tight, torch again, shove in tank. no quenching needed. from making wick to shoving in tank to wrapping a coil takes me less than 3 minutes. easy peasy

Yep,got tired of all the burning and quenching. You CAN overcook a wick too, makes it break up and leave stuff in your tank

I honestly haven't laid it on its side. I'll test it for you.

never ever plug the fill hole! ever, i mean never ever do it. no, seriously, don't do it.
it is there for a reason and not just to put juice into. you get wicking issues if you plug it

and how can you overstuff a fill hole with a wick? you using sillica or cotton? then it's not a genesis

regarding the kick and it's drain. I just read in another thread something that is noteworthy. It probably will not have the drain problem in the Zen. I am thinking this, cuz you need to push the button on the zen devices for it to complete the circuit. correct?
Great thought! :) At least on the ones with magnets anyway, the springs would keep the battery in contact all the time.

Welp... cut too big a piece of wick. Roll it normally. Try to insert it into hole. Realize it doesn't fit. Tighten it down. Still doesn't fit. Tighten it down s'more... barely fits, but now you've got a 'solid' wick exactly like he was suggesting. I was surprised that it still worked well, and listening to him talk it seems like it's even optimal if he's doing it habitually.

I haven't ever covered the fillhole on my zen. But the other-device-that-I-probably-shouldn't-be-talking-about is designed for it. It actually comes with a screw you have to remove to fill. 'interferes with the wicking'... I imagine it does because of air pressure in terms of tipping.. but it SHOULDN'T interfere with capillary action.

i thought it was because the battery was touching it so even though the buton in the zen is not pushed its still touching the spring or base of the pv
