I was thinking about polishing my Blue BP tube to a bare shiny alumiunum once the anodizing wore off bad enough. I'm pretty rough on it since I stick it in my front pocket all of the time while at work.
Well, I got to thinkin about it and decided to just make a new one, easy right? How hard could it be? I found out pretty quick. Didn't have any aluminum, but I did have some bronze alloy laying around. Here's what I came up with.
Turned out pretty good, I think. I wouldn't recommend to try making one yourself unless you have a CNC machine (I don't, so everything was turned on a lathe). It was more complicated than I thought, because it isn't just a straight tube. Plus the threading was a b*tch! Thank God I didn't try to make the caps!
I also made a bronze drip shield to match. Coated everything with clear laquer so it doesn't tarnish.
Once I really can't stand looking at the blue tube, I'll try and swap it out --- could be in a month, or could be in 5 years. I don't really want to mess with it until I have to.
Now I can really appreciate the cost and quality involved for the Buzz Pros (or any other Notcigs product). Mike truly makes masterpieces!
