I've not been able find specs on that fuse. But I'd guess they have the amp load that triggers it set lower than low ohm coils pull. A 2 ohm and above coil would never pull the same amperage as 1 ohm and below unless there was a short. They need to design a new fuse for low ohm that has a higher cut-off.

However the spring is a fuse, i have 2 spares with me just in case.

the spring negates the use of a vape fuse.

Unless you modded your reo for sub-ohms, you will generally get around 4 volts on a fresh batt due to voltage drop. As most batts have a 10amp limit, anything above .5ohm will draw a max of 8 amps.

Most springs fail due to user error, mostly shorts resulting from your coil or coil legs touching the top cap of the rm2.

I vape anywhere from between .8 to 1.6 ohms micro coils and have never had a spring or battery related problem.

I have a Vape Fuse from RTD but according to Randy it won't work if I use a sub ohm coil.
I tried a .08 and a 1.2 and the fuse stops working
This kind of defeats the whole purpose of a fuse to protect the mod or spring
I like the mirco coils but not the risk

Thanks in advance
Larry
Micro coils are not a risk, it's just a different way to setup your coil. You can do a 2.0 ohm micro coil for that matter.

The spring is your safety mechanism. It'll collapse in case of a short dropping the battery away from the firing pin.

Those add on fuses are tiny, usually 2 or 3 Amp PTCs. We did some testing with bigger PTCs in one of pdibs threads, but I halted work on it until Rob brings the sub ohm kit, because the game will then change again and we'll need different denominations of fuses.

The project will start again once I got my paws on the kit =)

Until then you can use the add on fuses, just coil accordingly.

I used to work in that department. I used to work in that department.

Repetitive redundancy is redundant again. :D

I agree with jcalis1394 and super_X_drifter. A micro coil by itself won't pose any more risk than "old school" coils. In fact, I'd say they are safer since they give much better performance so you won't have to go with a very low resistance setup. It's all about the amps you're pulling.

The spring is also a safety measure in itself since it'll compress when you get a short.

I wouldn't worry about going with a 0.8Ohm coil personally as long as you pair it with quality batteries. I run with a 0.8Ohm on my mechs (Reo included) and I have no problems. My batteries don't even get warm when I chain vape. At that resistance, you're only running around 5.25 amps on a fully charged battery. That's way below the max rating of a good battery like an AW IMR.
