What I got from this thread Rob started simply was modding a REO may not be the best idea or safe especially if your not familiar/experienced in doing so and if attempted it is at your own risk. Cowboy gave his opinion and hasn't further fueled anymore drama so I think its best forgotten.

This kinda reminds me of a incident many years ago taking my son and nephews to a Oakland San Francisco football game at Oakland. We all dressed in our Niner gear walking thru the tailgating parking lot to get into the stadium. My son decides to yell "Raiders SUCK"!! If you ever been to a Raider game in Oakland saying that is risky indoors and in the parking lot even worse.
My brother and I went to a Raider's/Bronco's game in Oakland a few years ago. there was a guy sitting near us in a Bronco's jacket. It was a tense situation through the whole game but when the raiders lost people started looking at that guy like it was his fault. I was honestly concerned for the guy.

Cowboy, the dude cautioning us is the maker of the REO. I'm damn glad he's on here (unlike ANY other mod maker that has made / sold even 1/4 as many mods as he has) and actually gives a {MODERATED} about us more than his bottom line.

I didn't say he didn't care, I just am the type to question all authority and never let people hide behind do-good ideas and faces to foist law and order on me, if I want to blow up my reo that's my business man. Too often the word "Care" out here means that someone is worried that Big Brotha is accusing the engineer and/Manufacturer of these gadgets a reckless capitalist that will be put on the watchdog list if there is one. At the end of the day , I don't log in to be Nannied and lectured, if anything that alone temps me to DO the things some say I shouldn't out of spite. I've discovered a lot of good things that way. Now if I could just get this $#@m Reomizer coil wound right so I can plug it into the 220 volt electric stove socket I'll save on batteries.

OK, some folks got my bad choice of words wrong, I do NOT and never WILL think Rob at Reo is a PC Nazi SORRY SORRY SORRY for the improper order of words that makes it look that way. My emotions where on the line similar to a Backseat driver [in general not rob] nagging the driver [me] to the point of blowing their top, and suddenly I hi-jacked the thread to foist my discontent with being controlled by others. I apologize to Rob, and the moderators too. I spoke with Rob on the phone recently [put in an order] and in that short period of time I knew I was talking to someone that has good karma. It's that political correct fear kr@p that fires me off every time. We never would have walked on the moon if some of us didn't care about death and marched forward on to parts unknown. Those are my heroes.

Ok. Now were good. :). So, what's troubling you with that coil on your RM2 my man? Perhaps we can help. Did you get a grand too? We can help :)

Rob has never nannied or lectured us, the only thing close to that was he made sure pdib put a more pronounced warning on one of his threads (which was entirely warranted, that was when we were straight bypassing the spring). In fact he joined the discussion a few times.

I'm all about livin dangerously, I sky dive, I ride my moped with no helmet, i don't safely eject my usb drive. But that doesnt mean I should start making modifications to my parachute when I have no experience in that field, hell all i have done is been clipped on to someone and jumped out, so just because someone has used the product doesn't automatically make them qualified to start messing with the design. I feel thats all Rob is trying to avoid. But hey in my mind, if you've done your own research and are making a mod just for you, all the power to ya. And the one way to never get any PC "negative nancy" remarks would be to Not post it on the internet. Nobody on here is telling you what to do with your property in your home.

I always have wanted a "hooka" e-cig that can be a fixture on my coffee table and plugged into the wall, why waste batts when sitting 2 ft from an outlet.

Cowboy, I'm so glad that you spoke personally with Rob. I was a doubting Thomas when I first started using a Reo, then I talked with him on the phone...he totally changed my cynical, doubting- Thomas attitude toward all the folks here that praised him and his Reos to the sky.

great karma indeed! And I, for one, appreciate your posting this. Some of our emotions were also on the line as we tend to defend Rob like a mama bear with her cubs!

Please come join us in the lounge whenever you have a chance.

Helping with voltage drop is definitely great, but it hasn't been a big issue for me. Longer battery life would good. I thought I would need a Grand for the 18650 battery, but this mini 18490 lasts all day for me; even on the weekends. If I make a 1.2 ohm microcoil from 28awg kanthal and stuff some cotton in there, it will choke me out. Guess I don't get why anyone would want more, but do what you gotta do. I am a firm believer in responsibility. You mod it, you own it, you risk it. Love my reo mini and I am pleased to see advice from the maker as well as some future improvements.

Here, let me help ya out. Try one of my two coil setups:
1. 12 wraps nichrome 24g at 0.5 ohms boosting up to 29 watts.
2. Dual coil 8 wraps kanthal 26g at 0.4 ohms boosting up to 33 watts.

Top it off with at least 18mg nic and have a fire extinguisher close by.

Seriously though, I have a peculiar way of taking drags as I inhale very little or not at all and only do 0 nic so I don't get any TH just big juicy clouds. :D

Holy snikies, 10 amp draws to vape??? No thanks, I'm good with my 12 wrap 28awg 5/64" coils. :toast: I prefer a little longer drag, so those super duper sub 1 ohm coils are too much.

Perfection is something we should never achieve in anything. Perfection means there's no room for improvement, creativity, experimentation and tinkering. What a boring world it'd be if things were just perfect.

Wait was that me? That sounded way too deep, that cannot be me!

I'll go back to my secret lab to work on my nano-robotic REO. It has a GPS, music player, USB port, power generator, AI comparable to human intelligence, IR tracking, speech recognition and circuitry protection. Batteries? HA! With a solar powered battery and a panel on the side, it automatically goes outside to take a "sun bathe" and comes back to me ready to give me regulated power up to 100 watts using its highly agile hybrid wheels with inbuilt terrain detector to adjust height. Also you can switch from manual squonking to auto squonking, and it has an adjustable handle for you to choose how you want to grab it.

Dammit I wasn't supposed to share that, it's confidential info don't tell anybody I'll get in deep trouble.

 :vapor:

What no REPLICATOR ????? Rob will NOT be happy:rules:

Yeah right, Russ. My woman caught me online looking at prices for golf carts the other day 'cause of you!

No Super_X, My Reo out of the Box is perfect for me, 1.2 to 1.6 ohms single coil seems to be my sweet spot anyway, Like I said, I high-jacked the thread through my pissy emotions and let my hatred to safety watchdogs get the best of me. I'm grateful the moderators didn't ban me for god sakes. As for voltage drop, I am always an advocate for getting rid of it in any case.

Personally I think Reo has been unfairly attacked by some cyber nuts out there trying to run a half ohm on these things with dual coil and unfairly bash them for hick-upping a half a volt under those conditions. One video on youtube was done this way and I wanted to reach through my monitor and SLAP that fruitloops up the side of the head for not knowing that the gadget he was measuring the voltage with was the cause of the drop DUhhhhhhh!!!!

Sure the surface contact area on a "Replicable" battery is limited to a few amps, but how many people wine at other bottom squonker boxes out there that has a built in Lipo Battery soldered into the system, yielding a "Lower" voltage drop under Silly rediculous low ohm setups. [gotta quit smoking every time you charge?].

Thank God Rob didn't subscribe to the Soldered in batt system, [no waiting for a fresh battery]. You give up the Nuclear powered e-smoke for the luxury of battery swap on the spot. If Rob improves it for the sake of battery life and efficiancy I'll by the kit. But it will not effect performance that's for sure, this Reo Grand Mech is a flavor god, period, blows clouds with a little larger airhole mod and Silicon Silica wick.

The squonking part after a day is un-noticed, sort of like when we used to flick the ashes of a real cigarette , after one day and 2 dry hits it's all unconscious now, I never remember when I last "Squonked" it comes naturally. I couldn't wait to get home and build a wick/coil to try it out so I did this in less then 5 minutes in the parking lot at work, Damn this thing is easy to work on.

Oh ya it's a Reo-Grand Mechanical with a Reomizer II NO FR%$GG#@#!N LEAKS!!!! Horrrayyyy!!! I can lay it on it's side, no problemo.

Look I love my double barrel Shotgun [AGA -T2] witch is what I call my Genny Tank with two ciols and two wicks just to prove to some skeptics around town that claim electric cigs can't replace the Joy of smoking, but it's a cheap Macho ego showoff stage play to shut them up when I fill the room with sauna like steam in one puff, but that .5 ohn setup tastes too hot, harsh, and is far from enjoyable, Like I said the Reo out of the box does it my way anyway, which is 1.2 to 1.6 ohms single coil no computer chips limiting my drag time, wala, going to order another as a backup. :vapor:

Shh, I ran with a 0.3 ohm coil for 2 days, vaping it off a fresh battery at 38-40 watts. That reminded me of a guy that frequents my local B&M but has broken so far 4 eGo batteries and burnt 3 tanks in less than a month. I ask the owner what the hell is this guy doing to them. Turns out every drag he takes, it lasts until the eGo hits its shut off timer. He kept saying how nothing can satisfy him (he was a 3 PAD smoker) and nothing is giving him the hit he's looking for (no, not exactly TH, but a hit that makes him cough his lungs out) And there I walk in with my 40 watt vaping beast, he asks if he can take a drag off it. I squonk hard as hell bc that guy will dry that cotton in no time, and give it to him on a pretty fresh battery. Mind you, it was 0 nic juice. Just after 1 second of taking the lung hit, his eyes popped wide open but he kept at it for 5 damn seconds. Result? Proceed to cough like you've never coughed in your life. What hit me was, the guy liked it! "Man that's the hit I'm talking about!" Not only that, very little vapor on the exhale, so he nearly stealth vaped 5 seconds of 38 watts 50/50 PG/VG.

Yeah I ditched that coil because it was too hot and flavor was a bit muted. 0.5 ohms is my average sweet spot and if I want a warmer vape I set it up as a dual micro coil with some 26g kanthal. I take short drags though, no nic juice so no nic buzz/TH and nearly no inhaling, I'm a big fan of nose hits for most flavors and with the volume of vapor at that resistance flavors to me get as lively as they can get.
