I am so sorry about your back. But I had to laugh at the first part, that your back goes out more than you do, because I can say the same thing.
I know I am getting old when my children start hording the jumbo black plastic bags.
When women are still attractive to you...but you can't quite remember what to do with them!
When they start playing your music on the "classic rock" station. Twas a sad day.
FWIW, I got the same hip replacement email today at 9:48AM Central Time. 
I know I'm old because: I used to define my eligible age range for women as,
"Too old to be my daughter & too young to be my mother" ...
the second part of that doesn't seem to reeaally work for me now.
I can still live with the first part though.
I know I'm old because: After ignoring their nagging snail mails for five years, I finally gave in and joined the AARP. But, that wasn't as bad as FORGETTING to renew and letting it expire.
Just as well, I could never remember to take advantage of anything from them anyway. 
Seems I'm a little ahead of you. Wait until they start playing your favorite songs in the grocery store and doctor's office.
