As to nicotine being the most addictive drug? Nope. It's just that it is legal and available in any gas station, corner store...etc. When you can actually purchase cigarettes just minutes away from where you are, the temptation is always there. Almost in your face.
Agreed. Availability is the key factor that makes it more problematic.

Could it be that those (myself included) who do not hack up gross stuff are those who did not inhale as much as those who experience lots of lung-cleaning?

It probably depends on how efficient your cilia is while you smoke. If it's doing a good job cleaning out the crap, then I suspect there would be no reason to start coughing once you quit.

That, in combination with that, is my theory.

Ex 30 year 2 PAD smoker. I did have shortness of breath climbing stairs and stuff, but my MD was puzzled that my lungs always sounded clear during exams. Smoking did give me coughing fits on occasion - and I was a deep lung inhaler - but I didn't cough up goo when I quit smoking.

For those people who don't cough up crap when they quit - count your blessings.

Holy crap, that's a lot of cigarettes. What are you doing with that $5K per month savings?

I have some higher end equipment and don't need to buy anymore devices. The rest of the cash saved is paying down our financial debt. Also, we like to travel

On paper I've saved over two grand at this point!

Well dang! That should've read 30+ years

Need more coffee I guess

That could be open to debate as I see a dealer on every corner. just saying. I would say its one off the most addictive in the top 3 IMO Having been an addict on both playing fields Nicotine is surely the hardest I've had to deal with. I'm definitely addicted to women but I think I'll keep that one ;)

this reminds me of the time when grandma kept coughing up fur balls. for months it stumped the whole family cause she hasn't had any hair anywhere on her body since the candelabra incident of '72 at the church bake sale/monster truck rally.

well long story short we finally realized the culprit was one Mr. Charles Barkley, her cat. turns out grandma used to let Mr. Barkley play with her dentures whenever they weren't in her mouth, and instead of rinsing them off first, she'd just snatch 'em from him and pop 'em back in her mouth at dinnertime. though we recently had to get her some new uppers because the dingbat cat took off with them and we haven't seen him or her uppers since.

Know when still smoking did have nasty stuff coughing up occasionally, especially when with a cold, but after just vape it went away. What the body can't absorb and clean out, it ejects with nasty flam when smoking. Since you stopped smoking the body was able to start cleaning without going to extreme measures anymore. Toxins are disposed through sweat, nasal flow, and absorption, and disposed by the usual waste management system. It varies from person to person.

I am 72 years old, female, very active, and in excellent health overall. Even when I was smoking, I was seldom sick, not even colds.

I smoked 2 packs a day for 45 years. I coughed quite a bit when I smoked, especially in the mornings when I first awoke. Sometimes at night, I would have wheezing, too.

I haven't smoked since the day I got my ego beginner kit over 3 months ago, and the coughing and congestion just disappeared immediately when I started vaping. I kept waiting for the "clearing" to begin that people talked about, but it has never happened.

I feel great - no coughing, no wheezing. I'm certainly not complaining.:) But it is interesting how differently we all react, isn't it?

Same here. Not a thing...

Explain it, I cannot. :)

My theory is that not just your activity (sports, walking, etc) influence it, but also your nutrition. Believe it or not, the protective lining of your lungs is made up of saturated fat (palmitic acid is a saturated fatty acid), and thins out when you cut your sat fat intake. Lower saturated fat consumption can be correlated to more lung infections, higher sat fat intake to more protection and fewer infections. Also antioxidant intake over time will generally have a positive effect, but no assumptions are made about anyone's habits.

Actually pharmacological "The most addictive drugs include ....... and ......; however, one of the most addictive drugs is not an illegal drug consumed only by druggies or people on the streets. It is a legal drug that is sold in grocery stores, drug stores, gas stations and many other places. Many people use it every day – several times a day even – and may not consider a drug. "

Just because its legal and easy to get does not mean its not more addictve than illegal drugs like [MODERATED]. I have heard this from not just my own doctor but my parents neurologist.

Nicotine content is not an important factor, according to my experience. I started with 18mg, but quickly dropped to 0mg, on the advice of a doctor. After the drop, I still did not cough up gunk. Several months ago, I began using 3mg, because 0mg was not satisfying me, especially during times of situational anxiety.

As soon as I get rid of my gallon of diff flavored 18mg juices I am dropping to half. And ordering Halo Pure (just nicotine juice no flavor, in case i need a boost.)

WOW I did not think my first post would attract so much input I am now confident that my lungs are clean I don't and did not need to cough up crap and I am 4 months strong and never going back....

Anyone know if they actually banned ecig or vaping inside in Massachusetts yet or is the dumb statesmen or congressman with the bill still getting fought on it... leave it to MA to ruin a good thing.
