My :2c:..Making the decision to quit is easy for some, denial for others..complicated. I smoked for 20 years, pack a day, and loved it! There are two classes of smokers: 1. Hate the taste, but addicted to hand mouth and nicotine 2. ME..like taste and everything else.

Best way in either category? Don't throw away your smokes when you start. The human psyche is to want what we don't have. Only 2% can do Cold Turkey. Keep them around. Do both! More than likely you will realize that what you're getting from vaping (get the right juice and hardware) is replacing what you used to do. You cut down and quit. Trying a another cig seems stupid when you find the right juice. Peace.

My unit: ego900mah and mini evod 1.8 ohm. Winboro Lights (14mg) Koolport Ice (14mg) Vape on!

I liked smoking, but I didn't like anything *about* smoking -- how I had to go outside all the time, how I was enslaved to the need, how much they cost, how much non-smokers (pretty much 90% of the world it seems like) hate the smell (and that includes me now too!).

Nothing ever worked for me until I tried e-cigs, and then I really had no intention of quitting, I just wanted to stop freezing my .... off on the front porch. But after I started vaping regularly, about the first of Feb, I started smoking less... and less... and less... and they started tasting worse... and worse... and worse... pretty soon I couldn't figure out why I was even bothering with such a stupid, expensive, odious habit, when I had something much better INDOORS.

I tried cold turkey about 30 yrs ago; lasted 3 months, suffering every waking minute, dreaming of smoking everytime I fell asleep. 20 yrs ago I tried the patch, lasted a week, climbing the walls. 15 yrs ago I tried the patch again, same outcome. So I gave up trying to quit, but I did cut down a great deal, from a max of 3 pks a day, to just about 1 pack a day; mainly because I had to start going outdoors to smoke, and it's a huge hassle, and they cost so freaking much.

Now I feel that my ball and chain has been removed, and as long as I have this other thing, my nifty PV, I don't ever have to wear that ball and chain again.

Mine happened much like a lot of these stories, I was a solid 1 1/2 - 2 PAD smoker for 11 years. To be honest I loved it. I never even imagined myself quitting, knew it was probably the single worst health decision I could make for myself, and did it anyway. I did try to quit several times, but cold turkey, lozenge, cig-a-like from a mall kiosk, and patches all failed. I had basically resigned myself to a life spent buying the smokes everyday. Then I had a family member pick up vaping with an ego style device, it also happened she was going through cancer treatments and asked her oncologist about the device. The response surprised and intrigued me. Something to the effect of "Since it is not approved by the FDA I can not recommend anyone do that, however, since you have already told me that you're doing it, I will say this, I would much rather you do this than smoke, and any of my patients that do this I allow them to do it in the hospital." Shortly after this I heard about a b&m locally that carried like devices, I went with the intention of checking them out. Bought a pack of smokes on the way (as I always did leaving the house) and smoked 2 on the way there. I ended up leaving with a standard ego starter kit with a ce variant topper, those two were the last I have had, and am now 248 days smoke free and can't imagine any circumstance where I would ever go back. The difference is simply astounding.

Wife got me the v2 starter kit and 5 prefilled carts.
Couple of days later, a co-worker gave me a new clearomizer and 650 battery to keep me going.
Visited a local B&M, vaped some samples, found a juice to start, and added a EVOD system.
Kudos to my friend who opened up the world of vaping and the end of analogs.
( ordered a ego starter kit with my latest order to 'pay it forward' if ever I get the chance )

I took Zyban (bupropion) for about 10 years. It cut me down from about a pack and half/day to 5 to 7/day. I bought an e-cig a couple of months ago b/c I was tired of going out in the snow to smoke, but my intention wasn't to quit smoking altogether. However, right away I dropped to 1 or 2 cigs a day, then a couple weeks in the cigs tasted bad compared to the e-cig so I haven't had a real cig for about 3 weeks now.

And now I can stop Zyban which will save me about $50/mo.

Over the years I had tried the patch gum and even chantix. They didn't seem to do anything. About a month ago I purchased and mvp and some clearomizers. During the first three weeks I went from two packs a day to under a half of a pack while vaping. One week ago today I smoked my last cigarette.

I was diagnosed with COPD about 3 years while I was in the hospital for pneumonia. I smoked 3 packs a day and couldn't get myself to slow down. I managed to get off of them with a patch for about two weeks after getting out of the hospital. The urge to smoke overtook me once again and I steadily over a period of two years was back up to two packs a day. I did try the cigalikes and they didn't have what I was looking for at the time. Every time I lit up I thought about how stupid I was and was becoming quite depressed. My wife also smoked and I thought how impossible it was going to be for me to ever quit. About a month and a half ago, I ended up with severe bronchitis on the verge of another bout of pneumonia. The doc offered up several solutions including an attempt to scare the crap out of me by showing me my chest x-rays. He said my COPD was pretty bad for someone only 40 years old. It really was to the point that I could hardly walk across my yard without running out of breath and wheezing. I have kids and refused Chantix or zyban. I didn't like the idea of me loosing my cool around my kids with that stuff....and the way I was without nic, I knew I probably would even with the pills. I also didn't want to suffer nightmares or any of the other crazy crap those drugs are known for. I asked the doc about vaping and he gave me the line that it shows no results one way or the other. Being me, I didn't listen and went to a gas station I had seen a cheap ego style devise for sale in. I bought it and some e-juice and the rest is vaping history. I've not even thought about touching a cig since. I've even managed within one month to bring my nic level down from 24 to 12 with no major cravings and no real uptake in my regular vaping schedule. When I went back to the doc for a follow up, I let him know that I am living proof that it works to help for those that really want off of the bad stuff and reminded him that for every bad thing they may find in e-juice, there are probably a thousand worse things in a cig. He couldn't argue with me on it. In the end, he was glad I wasn't smoking and thought that my chest sounded better than it had in months. I can breath now and walk across my yard without feeling like I need to sit down and catch my breath. Did I trade one habit for another? Yes. Did I choose the better habit? absolutely. LOL, Not only is it a habit, it's now a hobby. I just started building my own coils for my PT mini and have moved up to an MVP. I'm loving it. Next stop, RDA.
