I just received many flavors from Capella's one of which is waffle. I have mixed the waffle with pg nic juice, vg, about 15 percent waffle flavoring a few drops splendex a couple drops of Wilton clear butter flavor and the taste is quite good. It may even get better over time. I still get a hint of a per-fumy type flavor(not much). The one thing that stands out is it is very DRY!! It gives me this dry cotton mouth after I vape it.
I also have some S.D.C. from Ms. T'S Bakery which by comparison (not comparing flavors) of the Nom Nom Nom or the saliva generating effect is night and day.
How do I get the Nom Nom effect from D.I.Y. or what can I add and from where to take out the dryness or slight perfume flavor and add the Cujo effect. Please any help on this will take my diy experience to a new wonderful level. Thanks
Bob

You're hilarious, and I'll be watching this thread so I can steal the knowledge, because my DIY tastes of a poop. Oh, and I'm in Indiana too. Where are you?

Hi Jurassica, I'm on the N.E. side of Indy by Geist Reservoir. This is the something I have been trying to conquer for a couple months. I think I just found one component and that is using more pg. It does help but not quite there yet. Anyway what part are you from Hoosier?

I add Vanilla Custard to my Waffle and don't add sweetener because its pretty sweet without it. Sometimes adding a few drops of Marshmallow will give moisture. PureVapes had recommended leaving the bottle open overnight to get rid of the perfume taste which I don't get from Capella but occasionally do from other flavor suppliers.

Well I see what you mean about the sweetener. I mixed a 10 ml bottle and added 5 drops of the sweetener. At first it was OK. In another hour it has turned into a highly concentrated sugar vape. I just poured that into a 30 ml bottle and cut with pg. I now have a 30 ml bottle of very sweet vape.....now what? Do I just start over and not take a chance on ruining more flavor? One thing is for sure, the more pg I add the (less dry) it is. I do have some of the Vanilla Custard too.

What I would do if you had that much that I didn't like would be to take a 3ml sample from it and try to fix that. Add a couple drops each of VC and marshmallow if you have it, shake it well and let it sit for at least a few hours. If you place the 3ml into a 5 or 6ml bottle you will have room to experiment with adding additional PG or VG as well. It's a lot more cost effective to try to fix a 3ml than a 30ml, once you get it worked out, you can apply the same to the rest of the big bottle.

Makes sense !! Does anyone have any other ideas on how to get the Nom Nom effect?

How do I get the Nom Nom effect from D.I.Y. or what can I add and from where to take out the dryness or slight perfume flavor and add the Cujo effect.

Others may have different experiences, but for me, there are two things that I think would help here.

First is the ethyl maltol concentrate (Ethyl Maltol dissolved in PG). It can be slightly to very sweet depending on how much you add, and is also used as a "flavor enhancer" in many of the top eliquids and also in foods and candy. I first started using it with Cinnamon RedHots flavor, and noticed that it really turned it into a mouthwatering experience. I include this in all of my mixes now, usually at around 8% by volume in the liquid I am making. If you don't want to mix this yourself, you can get it pre-dissolved at 10% w/v from TPA as "Cotton Candy" flavor. I mix mine myself.. It is said that about 10% is the strongest that will fully dissolve in PG, but from my testing so far (my measuring could be a little off) I think I have been pushing it slightly higher. I hear 12.5% is the max for dissolving it in PGA if you go that route (I have not tried this). When you use Ethyl Maltol dissolved in PG, just substitute the percent you want (again, I use 8% of the Ethyl Maltol liquid in each batch) for some of the PG that would otherwise be going in plain. In other words - don't cut back on your other flavor percentages, just add this in addition.

The second thing you might try to reduce the "dryness" - try mixing in about %20 VG in place of some of the PG you use. VG is noticeably smoother and moisturizing compared to PG. Again, I have made this a standard practice for all of my mixes. Mix in small batches though - from what I have both noticed myself and heard from others, VG can over time diminish or change the flavoring (although I have not yet seen any good experiments/studies on this, but I think it is likely measured in months). I usually mix a week or two worth at a time.

If you have never tried these, it sounds like they may be what you are looking for. For myself and others I vape with, the difference is profound.
Hope this helps!

Splendex is good when you need to add a lot of sweetness to a mix. EM adds body at low levels and more sweetness at higher levels but not as much sweetness as Splendex.

Great observation, and it is for precisely this reason that I typically will try a new mix with the EM first. EM adds more body and fullness to the flavors, while Splendex is just a pure sweet. If it is your first time using EM, I'd suggest trying it first without the Splendex since the EM usually replaces a quantity of PG and can be pretty sweet on its own. It is always easy to add a couple Splendex drops afterwards if you feel you are missing the pure super sweetness, but you just might find 8%-10% EM to be sweet enough for some flavors.

Near Kokomo

Then you live near my brother. Kokomo > Home of the famed giant cow Betsy !

Elf, you say you make your own malto...do you mean from the crystals?

GoodDog I just mixed another batch of the waffle with some Vanilla Custard and 5 drops of the 30 ml sweet juice lol. It's better. Now just waiting on some malto.

Yes, I purchase the crystals and dissolve them myself. The way I do it takes a couple days, but makes sure I get the maximum concentration in the PG, which at the moment I suspect is slightly higher than 10%. My kitchen scale measures in whole grams so its hard to know for sure. I'm sure purchasing the premixed 10% liquid will be just fine, and save the extra steps.

I think you will really enjoy what Ethyl Maltol and a bit of VG can add to your liquids. I had the same problem with my liquids before I used EM and VG. There may be other secrets out there that will expand on this (don't know them yet), but these two tricks by themselves took all of my mixes to a whole new "yummy" level. Even my neighbors don't buy liquid from the online vendors anymore, they just come to me every couple weeks

Hi Elf,
So help me out here a little, as I'm trying to read between the lines, LOL. Are you saying that you use EM in every DIY juice you blend to enhance the flavor -- and at 8%? Please and thank you.

P.A. has an ounce for five bucks ( I feel like I'm 17 again saying stuff like that ) or instead of pg base, the cotton candy flavor base is Triacetin. Does that make a bit of difference?(except for the two dollars extra) Plus the "Notes" in "Molecules used in tobacco blends. Some of the "Nutty Notes look very interesting...
Acetyl Pyrazine 10% (PG)
Acetylpyridine-2 1% (PG)
They have many of these. I believe RedGirl mentioned something about a few of the "notes" being able to tie certain flavors together. I need to hire someone to go to work for me so I can get in to all of this.

rockyroad, the Koolada in the Molecules, is supposed to be quite good. I've got to order, and I'm going to include the koolada this time around.

Lol I am looking everywhere for that and then I see "Menthol,Mints" Yuck! lol but even though I'm not a menthol or a mint person it says it has no flavor. Hm. Interesting indeed. This may be something that will give a "POP" in the back of the throat. I like POP

Well, GoodDog, do you think if a person added just like maybe one drop of menthol to a flavor it might perk it up? I got a freebie bottle of Bananica from PS when I got my eGo from them, and I'm on a true quest to figure out what they did to it to make it so sparkly and fresh. I'm quite fond of the banana flavor, but mine just comes out so flat and dull, waiii.
