How do I know when a carto is done, but not ruined?

I'm curious mainly because I want to start refilling my carts soon, and I've been saving all of my used carts in the mean time. How I've been able to tell if a carts spent is I get a slightly burnt taste, nothing too strong. The strange thing is though, the vapor seems to still be coming out quite a bit (I wasn't so sure on my first carto, so I kept puffing till it was unmistakably burnt, but vapor was still produced). Does even the slightest burnt taste mean the carto is ruined?

RamshackleShaman (sir or Ms.?) usually you'll taste burnt marshmallow when it's empty but not burned on vertical style cartos. Horizontal coil ones you'll taste awfulness when they're empty. You don't have to worry too much about the horizontal coil ones burning, but with vertical coils the next step after burnt marshmallow is beyond terrible, which is when you've burned the carto. Hope this helps.

I usually stop at the first sign of a flavor change, slightly burnt taste or when I know I've been vaping on it for quite a while if I'm using fat batteries. If I'm using 320 mah regulated batteries, which is normally what I use all day, the carto usually outlasts the batt charge so when I change batteries I change cartos. Fill em all at night, put my batteries on to charge and I'm good for the next day. 3 to 4 cartos ia a normal day for me. I'm using the gen2 cartos and not all that familiar with the gen1s. This is just what works for me. Others will be along soon to share what they know as well I'm sure.
