How do I tell when the battery is going dead?

I have been non-stop vaping for about 3 - 3.5 hours now, and I've noticed a slight drop (nothing horrible, still around the same power as a fresh 510 battery). I was wondering though is it a VERY noticeable drop in performance once the battery is dying or just a light difference?

This is my first mod, as well as the first battery without an LED to tell me when the battery is dead. Just want to be 100% sure before I destroy the battery.

Wish I could help you Trox but after a week with the Protege, I still haven't had one actually quit producing vapor. I go 8 or 10 hours and then switch.

I wish one of you would take voltage readings. The cut off point should be around 2.4 volts.

but even with voltage reading it still would depend on how much you use it. Of course today I have been using it like its permanently glued to my lips.

I was wondering the same thing. I got mine today too and its hard for me to tell without a visual cue (like a dimming light) when the battery is running low. I just popped a fresh battery on about 2 hours ago, so lets hope it runs strong until I go to bed . I think I might have read the specs on one of the threads here, but does anyone know off the top of their head if the Protege's tenergy batteries have overdischarge protection? or is that only on "protected" batteries?

Apparently they learned that if you stick one in a flashlight or something, and forget to turn it off, a ruined battery ruined sales.

Yeah, I'd imagine by the time you get down to 2.75v you'd know it was time change batts. ;-)

It would still be nice to know if the batts cut off when they are supposed to. The only way to know this is to actually check the voltage.

I don't know about the Protege, but when the batts need to be changed in my Prodigy you can totally tell. Vapor and flavor drop off significantly. Eventually I just got to a point where I change the batts once a day and don't worry about it.

Yes it definitely would. You'd have to keep vaping until long after the vapor was good and the thing just stopped and then check it. Preferably after the batts had gone through a couple of charge/recharge cycles.

Mine dropped off pretty quickly (don't have a multimeter) on the first full charge, but have lasted a looong time since the second charge and I'm only on day one.

Can't tell you that, I'm still on day one myself!

One thing I can say, is that on a 510 at least, when I put in a freshly charged batt, I have to hit it like the advice is for a Prodigy - short hits and release the button a second before I stop drawing on it or I can get a burnt taste. These batteries are strong

I personally would love to know how you guys get 7-10 and even more hours out of a prodigy?? I vape it CONSTANT I change the batteries out about every 3 hours. Usually 3-4 swaps a day while driving. Of course I got thru 5-7ml of juice a day also.

Using a Protege. Not sure I'll get 10 hours out of it, but they do seem to last and last and I've been chain vaping my new toy

I've been routinely testing voltage at the adaptor since I got it today; now on my second battery... these are my tentative results with moderate vaping:

Fresh charged - 4.2-4.3
0-1 hour - 4 - 4.1
1-2 hour - 3.8 - 3.9
2 hour plus - solid 3.7+

Haven't tested beyond about 4 hours because I love the 4 volts.
