How do people go to high wattages?

i've been vaping for about a month now and i can't seem to get to about 35watts or higher. i mainly sub ohm at 0.5- 0.3.

are they mainly using PG based juices or what is it? even on my rda i can't go very high i get a burnt flavor or the vapor is way too hot. i just got an rta and would like to go higher at least 40-45wats running it at 0.37watts atm duel coil.

low gauge wire. Takes more power to heat up. So it doesn't ruin as hot as higher gauge.

Yeah wire gauge and how it sits in the airflow nic mg strength heavy pg or vg. There are many reasons.

Its super easy if you have the right parts in place. 26ga or lower or if using 28ga your single coiled and huge airflow.
24ga and its cool as a cucumber at ~50w..

But if your using a pg heavy e joos or high nic above 4-6mg it will be very difficult regardless when you first try..

You have to have proper wicking there are plenty tutorials on youtube..

You may be dry hitting because proper wicking technique is almost a science..

I've gone up to as high as 150w on RDAs and the Smok TFV4. On my RDAs, I can get a warm, not hot vape at 150w, but as I've continued to experiment with my builds I'm actually going lower now.

To get what you want you need big coils. 24g is also my preferred wire, and a lot of times I would do parallels, twisted, and now claptons to get comfortable vapes at around 80-110w. That was my daily. Don't forget that you need good batteries, and an RDA or tank with big airflow. Good luck in your research!

You need to build the right coils for higher power, use an atty that has enough air flow for it and the more power you use the more important it is to do lung hits to move more air. With RTA's wicking is quite important too. Not that it isn't with drippers, but RTA's are more finicky to get right. They need to be able to move juice to the coils from the tank fast enough to replace the juice you're vaporizing.

Yeah it's all about the coil properties and how it's wicked.

You can do some interesting stuff with lower resistance and lower wattage, but at 0.3 ohms you should be able to take the wattage past 35 watts without getting a dry/burn taste assuming you made a proper coil and balanced the gauge and the coil dimensions. Coil positioning plays a part too.

Post a picture of your coil and wick and we can help you diagnose or give you pointers. Most of the time it's a wicking issue. I wouldn't move to an RTA without getting your RDA coil and wick down, it will cause you much frustration.

thanks everyone was mainly just wondering wanted to experiment. more then likely my coils and wicking suck i'd assume since i am new. i did get my rta yesterday and surprisngly it is working decently on the wicking i know i have had issues with wicking. i use 26-24gauge wire but everytime it only can go to about 35-37ish my rda can go higher of course but i have to drip more often.

Watts are tasteless odorless power. So I see no advantage to adjusting for watts. Adjust for the vape you want, and let the watts fall where they may.

Big coils need big watts.

I put a dual-coil, 26 gauge, 10-wrap, 3mm ID on my Velocity. It comes in right at .75 ohms. Hitting that at 50 watts is perfect. 40-45 works as well, just cooler.

It isn't just about the coil and wicking though, it is also the air flow. You can have the exact same build and without the massive air flow it won't vape the same.

Your right about that Nancy... I run a dual parallel 24g Nichrome build in this Dark Horse at 85-90w.... the wide open airflow and chuff cap help provide a cooler vape that's tolerable for me...I vape this when in the mood to blow some serious clouds, lol...[emoji12]
