Anthony says that all time. The dna is a good power mode drive. But other chips come very close. Gene, smoant, vaporesso, the better aspire. It still comes out ahead in tc but other companies are getting closer.

Feature wise the dna chip is slowly falling behind. Hope we see some cool things from them next year.

Behind who? Personally I think DNA boards are one of if not the most feature rich boards on the market. Not sure how much features one can stuff into a board. Saying that, I personally do not classify DNA boards to be high end. The cost difference in comparison to what is coming out of China is the price you pay for stuffing boards in the US. Parts are picked out of the same bins that China uses – nothing proprietary here. But that is not to say a DNA board cannot be implemented into what is perceived as a high end mod.

Really? They just launched replay mode, I didn't see any other manufacturer bringing an actual new vape mode to the market. If you count voice recognition, touch screen or changing colors of LEDs as features then yes, they don't do that. Doesn't affect your vape much though, so I don't see them falling behind.

Replay is a tc biased feature and the dna is ahead in that department.

the simplest thing they are missing this year is wattage curve control.

Stuffing the board in America adds a significant cost to the board. Although the yihi chips are not that cheap per unit.

I’d be surprised if something like the gene fun was much more then 5-10 dollars a piece at max.

Am I supposed to guess which of his videos you're referencing?

I dont believe anthony_vapes makes videos, as far as I know hes fairly big on Reddit and some other forums. Anyway, he told me this on Reddit when we were talking about DNAs. His reviews are pretty indepth and hes reviewed more mods then I could hope to name this year alone. He tests them pretty exstensively as well.

Im not trying to say DNAs are bad or arent special. I use my Paranormal 250c all day and love the thing. But testing points too lower cost chips are improving and getting close to DNA. Infact a DNA in wattage mode is just as accurate as most 50-80$ devices. Well, the good brands at least.

First of all, when you got replay you don't need a wattage curve.
Second, wattage curve is utterly useless. It's just for show and a waste of time. All you really want is a boost at the start and then a constant power while you draw. Not some vape that jumps around every second like a gorilla after 5 espressos. I'm not using the curve thing on any of my mods that have it, preheat and a wattage setting is plenty to get a good vape.
How hard do you think it would be to program a wattage curve? The answer is - not very. If they wanted it they could put it in their software in one day tops, the fact they don't means they don't see it as necessary. It's just a marketing gimmick.

You're not going to convince me evolv are falling behind because they don't have run of the mill garbage 2 cent features all others have while they're the ones developing new modes that actually improve your vape.

Calm down bro. You don’t need to vape in tc mode either. You can just stick a cartomizer to an old flashlight.

For the record I own nothing but dna, yihi, and mechs

I vape primarily power mode, but I have mods with chips in them that are plenty capable of good TC from what I read here.

I think generally, many of the chips out there will easily meet the consumer's need. However, that doesn't mean they work as well as a DNA or YiHi chip.

I'm not a chip snob, I have a good number of DNA devices, a few YiHi, but most of my mods are propriety chips. They all serve me quite well. Perhaps that's what Anthony_Vapes is referring to. Most chips these days will do the job for most folks. That doesn't mean they are anyway near as capable as a DNA chip though.

I for one can't tell one chip from another without seeing graphs, data, etc. If it responds well and does it's job, I couldn't tell the difference in power mode. Maybe this is what Anthony_Vapes means. Most chips will do what a DNA chip does for most users. But I'm not convinced they do it as well as a DNA if you look at the technical specs.

Anthony simple says that for wattage mode the dna is barely better then much cheaper chips.

I don’t think there’s much to disagree about there.

Thank you [: Thats more or less what was said. They arent as good as a DNA/Yihi/Dicode but are damn close with TC, and are equals with wattage (power) modes. I know Smoant was one of the brands and Diagrammatiks named a few as well.

The fallback is though, most boards arent supported for long like DNAs/Yihis/Dicodes/etc or warrantied as well. At least with DNAs Evolv has a pretty good track record for fixing things and updating their firmware. I assume the same is true for the others, i dont own any but a DNA.

No, there isn't. However it isn't what my initial response was aimed at, nor the "falling behind" part because apparently wattage mode is super useful even though I don't know anybody that uses it after dicking around with it for a week or so.
If a user doesn’t need it to vape then it’s not useful either way. That’s not what adding features is about.
Better ways to vape are not useful because you could already vape before? Should we go back to flashlight mech mods because you don't need anything else to vape? What are you even saying?

I definitely agree with you in power mode. I've never used TC enough to see for myself.

TC is the much harder to do well than power mode though, not all chips even try to do it the same. DNA and YiHi do it quite differently from my understanding, some folks like DNA TC better than YiHi and also the other way around. If you find something that works well for you and it's less expensive, then by all means.

I've never NOT bought a mod because it didn't have a DNA or YiHi chip. Most of mine don't have them. However, at the same time, there are mods I bought specifically because they DID have a DNA or YiHi chip.

I've got no problems with proprietary chips, I own a lot of them. It keeps costs down for a lot of mods, and they do the job for most of us just fine. But I definitely want a few DNA and YiHi devices in my collection as well. I have no doubt they are better chips, but most folks are perfectly fine without them.

I do really like the DNA boards though, lol.

I don’t even know why I’m arguing with you. I’m certainly not going to buy anything other then a dna a yihi or a mech in the foreseeable future.

I’m literally repeating word for word things Anthony said in his paranormal 250c review.

I’ve played around with wattage curves quite a bit. Some people use it even if you think it’s dumb.

But I dunno. Don’t get worked up at me. Go ask Anthony.

There is nothing proprietary with these chips. The vape market is too small and much too inexpensive to be fabricating their own controller chips strictly for vaping. These chips are used throughout other industries.

The accuracy of a mod is dependant on the board as a whole. The controller chip used is about as accurate as one can get and differences will be so small they would be almost impossible to even objectively measure. How a designer applies that controller along with the other components used (inductors, capacitors etc,) will dictate the mods accuracy.

Proprietary in this case just means chips that aren’t available for modders to buy.

It’s vaping. We use words wrong constantly.
