heya dude, welcome to ECiF, LOVE that there's another potential Ottawa vaper kickin around...Uhm yeah, what works for me, is I tend to shy away from the all day vaper kinda style. I want it to hit me like a cig did. I don't want be standing outside for god knows how long until it kicks in. So I just vape at 24mg with 5.5 volts (little on the hot side), and I'll head inside when I start to feel too cold, and it'll generally be enough. It'll take some getting used too, but you eventually just get a feel for it. And yeah it's different then smoking. I found for the first few days me and my friend just stared at each other with the dumbest looks on our faces. We couldn't tell when to stop. Now I know when I hit my spot, and if worst comes to worst, If I want more, I just vape some more....

Trial and error.

Most of us start out vaping quite a bit more than we smoked in terms of the number of "puffs" - the novelty and flavors make it easy to overdo it. People usually try a few different nic strengths and find a comfort level pretty quickly. If your vaping and you start to feel like crap - lightheaded, dizzy, queasy, rapid heartbeat - back off, then try a lower nic level. If your vaping constantly and still craving a cigarette, try a higher nic level.

It seems like an awful lot to learn at first, but you'll be surprised how quickly it all makes sense.

When your head starts to hurt, you went too far! My thing is, when vaping, I usually don't get to the point I did with analogs (I am right there with you in knowing when to stop), but I tend to take a few puffs here and there, much more often than I would have had a cigarette, but never taking close to the same inhales I would have otherwise. There are a few reasons for this. I can vape just about anywhere and at anytime (especially if you are stealthy as to not have to explain what you are doing). I am maintaining a level of nicotine instead of peaking and dropping. And since you don't have to seek out a spot to go and nic-up, you can be more casual about it. I think this is one of the big reasons that I take soooo many less inhales than I did smoking. You don't have to cram as much in at once not knowing when you will get away for another smoke.

Man, I just babbled. You will figure it out. Don't be afraid to mess with juices and strengths; it will help you find what you like and what you may need.

When I first started out vaping, I had the same problem...when to quit? I did alot of smoking while taking a break, and didn't know how long to vape to equal one cigarette. I don't have any problems with that any more, I just vape until I feel satisfied, and then quit. I think we each learn what works for us, but it's a given that if you start to feel like your getting a headache, it's time to quit vaping for awhile.

On a side note to different nic streangths, I eventualy slid in the lower nic I had tryed but wasn't strong enough at the time, to see how it affected me. Over 6 months I got down to 0% nic on this. I still vape, just 0%. I fear if I don't continue to vape the urge to have a smoke in my hand may tip the scales. I never planned on 0%. So if you try different nic streangths don't be affaid you tossing out your money. Besides it is always a nice back up if you run out.

New member here.I am currently a smoker but I am considering purchasing a eCig.I am wondering how do you know when you have had enough vape? With a cigarette it is easy to judge your dose. eg you have one, but how do you judge what with eCigs?

All good suggestions; for me, in a nutshell, whatever works. I'd start with a fairly high nic level juice, maybe with a couple of not-so-high. Then just pay attention to what your body is telling you. I've found I don't get the initial 'head rush' with vaping I got with cigarettes (this rush has been explained on here by a veteran in whom I place a LOT of trust as being from carbon monoxide rather than nicotine, IIRC), but the nic seems to stay in my system longer via vaping. Also if I start to feel cruddy & quit vaping for a little while the cruddiness passes rather quickly so it's not a big deal. Main thing: don't fear it, just give it a try and prepare to be amazed. Oh, and hang around here - you'll probably find answers to just about every question that comes up *before* you have to spend money & learn it the hard way. Happy Vaping! :toast:

Yeah you will figure out what works best for you. My husband had to drop his nicotine level to allow for the constant vaping he seems to do, LOL! Yes he does vape a lot more than he smoked because we never smoked in our home and now he can vape inside. He had headaches and ringing in his ears so he knew to drop the nicotine level from 16mg to 11mg and it's worked fine for him since the level drop. Me I am still using 16mg but I don't vape that much. I am still on the original 50ml bottle he purchased for me two months ago and I have over 3/4 of it left. :)

Something to note when people talk about nicotine strengths and how much they vape. Vaping on an ego-t it is typical to go through 2-3 ml of juice per day. With high voltage and dual coil cartos it is possible to vape as much as 6-8 ml/day with the same time spent vaping.

I currently vape with on a variable voltage mod with single coil cartos and 9mg nicotine. This is a lot of nicotine because I easily go through 6ml/day. Comparable perhaps to someone using an ego-t and using 18mg nicotine juice.

You know when to stop when you feel as though you are satisified with the nicotine in your system, its hard to explain but you just get that feeling that you have had enough vaping and that you dont need any more nicotine.

You'll know depending on the mg of nic you have in your juice. I believe Camel and Marlboro lights smokers are comfy in the 16-18mg of nic. I started at 24mg to make sure I would get my nic fix but YMMV...

I smoked Camel filters for about 11yrs and am now at 16-18mg of nic. vaping

So depending on what kind of ciggs you smoke will help ya choose your nic. level. Also the device you use for vaping can really play a role in when to "put the PV/ecig down" If your using a small device that doesn't really pack a punch you might be hitting that thing A LOT! If you use a mod or any device that can handle let's say a low resistance atty and some high mg nic juice and your not used to it 2 -3 hits can give you a good nic buzz for a while.

Start slowly and you'll naturally get the feel for it.

I had the same question, when you feel dizzy you went way too far ... I started at 11mg, and now mixing 3/4 11mg and 1/4 0mg ... But when at home I chain vape :)

THere is no real stop here. When you are satisfied you stop ... I even now sometimes take a hit or 2-3 put it down and then 5 minutes later repeat. You can just do as you please, just make sure you don't spend like 5 hours constantly vaping :)

when it comes to vaping i don't have stop button... because almost everywhere i can take a drag.. even when sitting in my office chair. in fast food joints, resto's even public transports... so far nobody told me to stop what im doing maybe because the smell isn't offensive... when i'm at a public where i could sit i bring out props... bring out all my eliquid (usually i have 2) and both my PV's
