How do you know when to stop/when do you stop in one session?

I just go by feel and that means it varies a lot. If I'm in front of the computer, my PV is used like scuba gear (hence my sigline). If I'm driving, I use it more or less steadily based on what the traffic ahead looks like or, if it's a long drive, I might feel the need to set it aside every now and then. If I'm busy, like at work or doing chores, then I go for it when I feel the need and stop after 2 to 4 minutes, when I feel I can let go for a while. I find that I can let go of it more as months from the last cig pass by when I don't have a free hand. I also find that my juice consumption is fairly steady as I smoked a lot of cigarettes in a row after work, but more steadily during weekends and do the same with vaping.

One trick I use is that I vape higher nic cigarette taste juice after meals or when I drink, else my regular low nic juice still leaves me not quite satisfied. Over time, I am also finding that a good rebuildable is perfect for all-day vape, while a Nautilus does the job for cigarette high nic juices. I can get by just fine for the occasional menthol or Tiramisu juices in a standard Aspire tank, but that does demand higher nic content than what I use in the more advanced tanks. It definitely is a matter of tinkering around in my case and I love it.

good call.

I take 2 or 3 hits, and set it down. Go about whatever it is I'm doing; after while, I take two or three more hits, set it down. Why set limits? When I still smoked indoors, I wasted half of my cigarettes burning in the ashtray. With vaping, it's always there and ready when I want it.

Whenever I said that I smoked 2 PAD, my kids would chime in that I burned up (not smoked) 2 PAD. With vaping, I can take a couple of hits and lay it down without all the waste.

I'm an old smoker from back in the days when you could smoke anywhere, even in the doctor's office or school. So, taking cigarette breaks is foreign to me. To me it's a matter of having it available all the time, whether I actually use it or not.

I think it is possible a lot of vapers use too low of nicotine strength...

Maybe... but it's better to use too low, and have to vape all the time, than too high, and be nauseous... (FATE WORSE THAN DEATH!!!) I quit smoking, back in Feb, using 6mg. But once I was quit, I found I had to go up to 8mg, then 9mg, or I was just chain vaping every minute of the day. Now I'm at 10mg, and I do manage to put it down after a few hits. But I know from experience that after vaping 12mg for as little as an hour, NAUSEA FOR HOURS.

It's far better to start low, and titrate yourself upward, than start high, get sick, and decide vaping just isn't your thing -- and go back to, or never quit, smoking.

I admit that I chain vape, but am able to go for long periods of time without it and not suffer the way I did when I was a PAD smoker. There are times however when I am doing something and I realize that I am trying to do whatever with a twist in my hand (that I forgot I was even holding) and I tell myself " put the darn thing down you dope!" I am working on taking breaks from it regularly just because I think that I probably should. I don't need another habit to become irritatingly necessary for me.

Nicotine is *dependance producing," exactly like caffeine. Neither nicotine- nor caffeine-dependance is life threatening, nor does either cause such things as neglecting to eat, work, or attend to matters of family and relationships. In order to qualify as "addictive," a substance should *substantially* detract from one's health and quality of life; neither nicotine nor caffeine qualify.

Oh, yeah, totally not addictive...
Actually research shows the other chemicals are what gets us. But who knows. Well I tend to think it is mental to some degree. Maybe it is just me. I've never had that overwhelming urge to smoke or vape. I quit cold turkey all the time with no side affects. But then I get stressed and find a pattern of a certain place and habit to destress. Then my crisis is over and so is the smoking for months. Weird.

I think it really depends upon what one's definition of addictive is. For me, if one is dependent on a substance to feel normal or must use said substance or suffer from withdrawal symptoms, they are addicted to it. I am addicted to a lot of things which would be considered benign...

Just look at the vapers who can't make it through a shopping session al Walmart without a vape...

I agree. I am a mental health counselor at an outpatient treatment center. I have a different pov on addiction than CD counselors. They don't like that bit it is ok. Self medicating is a symptom of the problem. Typically a trauma or loss issue. Smoking is so culturally laden and so is caffeine intake.

To me, self-medicating is the way to steer clear of doctors! Or, seriously, what you do when you have no recourse to doctors, or when doctors want to give you poisonous and expensive pharma snake-oil that causes more problems than it solves -- like anti-depressants, sleeping pills, tranquilizers, etc, which you can't afford anyway. Many maladies are self-treatable, if you know how and can get the proper materials. Just from seeing the ENORMOUS quantities of pills that my parents have to take for their many old-age health issues and the toll those medicines have taken, I'm strongly of the opinion that the best way to stay healthy is STAY AWAY FROM DOCTORS and their infamous prescription pads.

Absolutely. You cannot aide Tue brain in rewiring itself when you are clouded by medications. In fact, tolerance of symptoms is what helps (along with a lot of self work). There's a difference between self care and self medicating. The latter does not work. I cured early onset bipolar disorder 7 years ago after stopping sickening meds and getting to real, difficult work. Mindfulness, earnest exploration of self, past and how that fuels chemical imbalance, etc.

I only use 6mg nicotine and I mostly drip. I may be an extreme case but I vape a the time. When I'm chilling watching tv I have three or four mods going with different juices. I do question is I should slow down. However I hardly ever get nicotine od and feel like crap. So for me I feel I'm good. However there are times where I may go a while without. Just depends on what I'm doing I guess

I always have two going, nowadays, my regular Virginia and this delicious Blueberry Muffin; the latter is almost overtaking the Virginia as my ADV! And at night when I'm having my warm-milk cocoa before bed, I have some 6mg Long Bottom Leaf; the sweet tobacco/coffee flavor goes really well with the cocoa taste.

Still can't figure out that Halo Voodoo, though. Maybe I should just park it in a drawer for a nice long steep and see if it ever starts tasting like anything in particular.

I love being able to vape as much as I like, or if I'm busy, as little as I like. With cigarettes I always had to ration them strictly, they're so expensive, and if I got busy, I had to just do without or interrupt whatever I was doing so I could hike out to the porch and puff a ..... Sooooooo glad to be done with that!!
