My roommates order arrived today containing a few boxes of regular and premium 555's. They are marked and looked the exact same from what we can tell. Is there no way to tell without tasting them?

The premiums I have seem to be a little bit taller than a regular cart. I'm sure someone will report back with the specific measurement difference!

I don't have exact measurments either but yes the premiums I have do seem to be a bit taller.
OK, just got a PM from Mark and I'll pass along what I THINK I understand.
If it has the stubby little plug built into the condom, it's a premium, but some of them also come with a separate .... plug, like the older cartos.
If it has the soft, rubbery mouthpiece, it's a premium, but they don't all have that.

Look at the battery connector. The hole in the center post is smaller on the premiums.

You pretty much got it... Stubby plugs= Premium OR detached plug, with the rubbery mouth piece (white cap) = premium.
Ah, I see. The metal bottom, .... plug and condom are indeed different. Thanks much. 
I ordered some premium English Toffee cartomizers and the ones I got look exactly the same as the old ones! Same old condoms and separate plug. Same hard plastic cap. Same bottom center hole. Same length.
They taste the same as the old ones to me. Since the ones I got have no visible differences at all I guess I'll have to take it on faith that they are premium. I think I'll wait until they get everything consistent before I try any others.

They also make a "popping" noise when you vape. It sounds similar to the crackling sound a cigarette would make when you took a large drag.
Nope... the hole is the same size. I checked with a micrometer and these have the same exterior dimensions as the regular ones I have.
They do sizzle when vaped - but then again, most of the ones I have do that. I don't notice a popping sound. I think that they really should have some OBVIOUS difference between the regular and the premium. I agree that a 'P' on the label would do a world of good.

That's a good suggestion, but the decision to call them Premium cartos was made too late to change the stickers this time around. In the future we will be standardizing the differences between the two types of premiums, and making them easier to distinguish from our remaining regular cartos.
But of course, we will be phasing out the regulars entirely eventually, and ultimatly all of our cartos will be Premium, or even better!

Might have the packers just write P on the box label with a pen while packing them for the time being.
