How does one get saved?

Anytime. That is why we are all here.

I pray that we all are here gathered with one purpose in mind and that is to glorify God.

We will all, as brothers and sisters in Christ, as part of the same body, will support each other durring these trying times because where one of us is weak, there is another who is strong to help carry the burdens that another one of us has.

We will go grow stronger by the day and, in the name of Jesus, be able to spread the good word all over this forum and turn people to Christ.

Amen.

John 3:16-18 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten son."
So many have viewed this thread that it seems a good place to share about salvation. The verses above clearly teach that the world is lost and bankrupt. All are destined to an eternity apart from God. Yet, God in his great love sent his only son, the only righteous one, to take our sin upon himself and die the death justly appointed to each of us. He did this that we might have an eternity with him. Sin seperates man from God and unless a man recognizes his sin and bankrupt nature how will he know the need for a savior? John the Baptist was raised up to proclaim this message of repentance in advance of Christ. Do we see the need of repentance today?

Very well put and said. Direct quotes from the Bible.

If anyone says that you have to read a certain translation of the Bible to be saved, or speak in tounges to be saved or anything else to be saved that is not according to the word, I believe that they have been misinformed.

Everything you need to know that is truth is in the Bible.

Yes, there will always be a need for repentance and thank you Jesus for God's Mercy and Grace!!

1 Timothy 2:3-6 "For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time."
This was no accident and calvary was no failure. Jesus paid the full debt sin. Jesus did his part and now it is up to each of us to believe and spread the good news.

Salvation is by GRACE and through faith in Jesus Christ. Mark 8:34 tells us that if we are to be Jesus' disciple we must deny our self, take up our cross and follow Jesus. Paul appropriately declared himself a bondservant (bought and paid for by Christ) in Romans and described the battle that rages within between the old man and the new. Our cross can be difficult to bear at times but we are commanded to bear it. And how to accomplish this undertaking? By following Jesus. The closer the better.

Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

We serve a living God that has conquered the grave and made complete payment for our sins; thereby securing the believer throughout eternity. How could one not publicly confess so great a gift? From darkness to light and from death (in sin) to life eternal.

How does one get saved?

To start to answer that question we need to ask what are we saved from? In the Christian doctrine of salvation, we are saved from “wrath,” that is, from God’s judgment of sin (Romans 5:9; 1 Thessalonians 5:9). Our sin has separated us from God, and the consequence of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Biblical salvation refers to our deliverance from the consequence of sin and therefore involves the removal of sin.

Who does the saving? Only God can remove sin and deliver us from sin’s penalty (2 Timothy 1:9; Titus 3:5).

How does God save? In the Christian doctrine of salvation, God has rescued us through Christ (John 3:17). Specifically, it was Jesus’ death on the cross and subsequent resurrection that achieved our salvation (Romans 5:10; Ephesians 1:7). Scripture is clear that salvation is the gracious, undeserved gift of God (Ephesians 2:5, 8) and is only available through faith in Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12).

How do we receive salvation? We are saved by faith. First, we must hear the gospel—the good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection (Ephesians 1:13). Then, we must believe—fully trust the Lord Jesus (Romans 1:16). This involves repentance, a changing of mind about sin and Christ (Acts 3:19), and calling on the name of the Lord (Romans 10:9-10, 13).

A definition of the Christian doctrine of salvation would be “The deliverance, by the grace of God, from eternal punishment for sin which is granted to those who accept by faith God’s conditions of repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus.” Salvation is available in Jesus alone (John 14:6; Acts 4:12) and is dependent on God alone for provision, assurance, and security.

I hope this helps answer your original question.
