God, Jesus, Church and Vapers

I decided to start this off-topic thread after reading a previous post about vaping in a Church.

Then the curiosity hit me. How many members on this forum who vape are dedicated Christians?

What I would like from this thread is a place were dedicated Christians can share their testimonies, talk about God and Jesus, ask for prayer and how they feel about vaping being an addiction that needs to be corrected.

Although I have no control over it, I would like other members that are not into God, to please not post any comments and/or jokes about our beliefs and allow us to be.

Those that come to this thread seeking God are more than welcome to take part with us and ask us whatever questions you may have about God and how God can better your life.

I am currenty the Music Director in my church and I am not ashamed to say that I love God and Jesus. I am not a religious fanatic but a Jesus Fanatic. God has made an incredible diffference in my life and today I wonder where I would be if it were not for him. He has saved my life and my marriage.

I have always prayed for a way to quit smoking because I know that it is a sin. I've tried many times and many different ways. Then along comes the e-cig. Although not perfect, and in my opinion, still not right, I believe that it is a step forward.

So my brothers and Sisters, what are your stories?

well then here I am...a Christian vapor! Although I must say, I'm not sure that vaping is a sin...afterall it's what comes out of a man that harms him not what goes into him (speaking of the heart). But who knows! It's a journey that we must all figure out ourselves with fear and trembling.

Love this post! Hope there are more to come!

Hi, Welcome and God Bless!!

Yes, your point is true.

But what is your take on your body being a temple of God / part of the body of Christ and our responsibility of keeping it safe, healthy and sound?

I'm very happy to see this thread. Like Steve said, we are both believers and were raised in Christian homes. I personally have never smoked of vaped, but I do think that vaping is a big step forward from smoking. At least you're not inhaling all the cancer causing agents and tar that harm your body like a normal cigarette would do.

As for vaping in church, I doubt that your fellow churchgoers would be comfortable with it, as most probably would not know that it's not a real cigarette. If your body is the temple of God, the church is even more so, and if I was a vaper, I wouldn't do it while in church. Just my 2 cents. :)

Joanna and I are both conservative Christians. Both raised in a Baptist home, and I believe we just found a Local Church here in the Nashville area where we feel at home! Longhollow Baptist (if anyone is wondering! :) )

Great thread Blue! I will share my testimony later when I get the chance!

-Steve

Hi Steve, Welcome and God Bless.

I am happy that you 2 are doing well and have found a Church to call home.

I look forward to your testimonies.

A note for everyone joining us...Steve is here as a fellow Christian to share and fellowship with us. Please do not ask him any Puresmoker related questions. Instead, go to the appropriate thread for that. I want to keep this thread true to it's topic.

Thanks

Hello, Welcome and God Bless you Joanna,

I believe that all that join us will feel the same with regards to vaping inside a church. That was a conversation on another thread that led the Holy Spirit to put in my heart the idea to start this thread.

I look forward to hearing your testimony also.

I'm sure there are many more faithful among the vapors and consider it an honor to publicly acknowledge Jesus on this forum. I teach an adult sunday school class and have never hidden the cigarette vice; however, it has prevented me from attending functions that I would have otherwise been in attendance. As a matter of fact one of our members approached me about the device and suggested I give it a try because I always spoke of wanting to be a non-smoker but not wanting to quit. Gave it a try and now have been smoke free for 34 days. Have been approached by other smokers in church now wanting to give it a try. God does work in mysterious and wonderous ways. God's speed always, and thanks for the thread.

Live the Love Life
"But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in Him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked."
(1 John 2:5-6)

There is nothing--absolutely nothing--that is more important than learning to love. In fact, how accurately you perfect the love walk will determine how much of the perfect will of God you accomplish. That's because every other spiritual force derives its action from love. For example, the Bible teaches us that faith works by love. And answered prayer is almost an impossibility when a believer steps outside of love and refuses to forgive or is in strife with his brother.

Without love, your giving will not work. Tongues and prophecy will not work. Faith fails and knowledge is unfruitful. All the truths that you have learned from God's Word work by love. They will profit you nothing unless you live the love of God.

First Corinthians 13:4-8 paints a perfect picture of how love behaves. It's patient and kind. It's not jealous or proud. It doesn't behave rudely or selfishly and it isn't touchy. Love "bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."

Sounds like a tall order, doesn't it? But don't despair. You are a love creature. God has recreated your spirit in the image of love. And He has sent His love Spirit to live in you and teach you how to love as He loves. You can live the love life. Why not begin today?

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

Every valley shall be lifted and filled up, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the crooked and uneven shall be made straight and level, and the rough places a plain
(Isaiah 40:4, AMP).

Line-single-short.jpg

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Have you been struggling in an area of your life for quite some time? God has promised He will go before you and prepare a path for you; He’ll make your crooked places straight. He wants to smooth things out for you. I believe that as you continue to commit your ways to Him, He will bring you into a season where things are going to start falling into place. You’re going to get breaks that you didn’t deserve. The promises that you’ve been standing on, you’re going to see them begin to come to pass. It’s time for you to get ready and get your fire back!

Start expecting that you are coming in to a new season. Maybe it’s in your finances. Maybe you’ve struggled for a long time. Begin to declare that you’re going to see supernatural increase, supernatural opportunities, supernatural promotion. Remember, the economy is not your source—God is. He’s the One who opens doors that no person can shut. Keep standing, keep believing because God is going to make your crooked places straight and lead you down the path of blessing and victory in every area of your life!!

Hi, Welcome and God Bless you.

The book says "Come as you are". Do not deprive yourself from attending Church functions out of guilt and shame of being a vapor. The most important thing here is that you are not ashamed of being a Christian. Jesus says that if you are not ashamed of him, then he will not be ashamed of you before our father.

Go to the Church functions and be part of the gathering. Remember, if we are not gathered, then we are scattered.

I am not joining this discussion Max, but maybe you should create a Social Group and have this moved to the Social Group Forums or, perhaps, to OUTSIDE. I do not thinkthat this thread needs be intermingled within the General Discussion area about e-cigs. Thanks for your consideration.

General discussion (15 Viewing)
This is the place for all off-topic chat.

I don't see any issues having this discussion here, but a social group will be great for this topic, I don't know much about religion, I just know that Jesus is the answer for me, I'm looking into know more about him and the way he wants me to be, I'm Catholic, but I have never been so convinced of the way the church is made, but I truly believe in God.

100% agree on not smoking in church Joanna...I never even read that thread because just the title bothered me. I was dead serious when I posted in the PS thread before your move, that I would pray for your travel mercies and I did, you are in my prayer journal March 14th and 15th and I continued until Steve posted you were safe and sound in your new home. God is so good...all the time! I just kept asking Jesus to take the wheel, drive the vehicles for you and keep all evil from you.

Thank you and bless you for starting this thread Blue Knight! Thank you also for the work you do for the King and the Kingdom! I've struggled for years with the very same thing...smoking up God's temple and how I can expect the Holy Spirit to dwell in me with all the smoke? But, I also realized (when still smoking cigs) that Satan was using this to keep me seperated, or not as close to other believers! Would love to hear more thoughts on this. We are all saints and I do believe God still loves us just as much. Like one of my Minister friends used to say "you are just a saint in a struggle"! And I'll be the first to admit I have many struggles (was on quite the rant last night ) and it's obvious I'm where I need to be...in church! :)

I am still hopeful that I can also quit the vaping at some point, I
put in a search for quitting smoking in Jan, and ended up on this forum learning about vaporizers. I thank God for that since vaping has enabled me to finally get off the cigs...3 months today.

Thanks again Blue!

cool thread max.

i grew up in a very conservative (pentecostal) home. stupid as it was i didnt start smoking until I was in my mid-twenties. i should have known better. well anyway, i smoked a pack a day for almost 15 years. tried the patch, the gum, the meds...nothing worked. well the real problem was...i didnt want to quit. i enjoyed the nicotine hit. i enjoyed the breaks from my work. in general, i just liked it. once i got my first ecig in the mail, i never finished the open pack of analogs i had. i dont miss them one bit.

now about the topic you started. i dont think i will be vaping in church. well, let me clarify, i will not be vaping during church. my pastor, and music pastor, and i are all very good friends. they both have known for years i was a smoker. neither agreed with the health consequences, but neither said it was a sin either. there are a lot of things that are bad for us, that just are not sins. how many churches accross america or even the world, have "coffee socials". i honestly dont believe my nicotine is any worse for me than caffiene. that is, since my nicotine is no longer burned tobacco... i have however heard a lot of ministers say that smoking or having a drink was a sin. usually, it is an overweight, gluttonous, evangelist who will be stopping by whatever buffet is on his way out of town... back to my point. i would never vape during church, but if i were in the office of one of my friends that are full time ministers, i truly believe that neither would be offended to see vapor coming out of my mouth, as vapor rises from their coffee cups.

mrs. cash, please do not take this the wrong way. a church is not the temple of God. it is not God's house. he does not live there. our bodies are the temple. and yes, sometimes we do things that are not healthy for the temple. i once broke my leg skydiving...the temple could have been destroyed completely had the chute closed at 450 feet vs. 45 feet. so is skydiving a sin?

i am rambling. my take on it is this:
-smoking is not a sin
-vaping is not a sin
-i would not vape in church because i would not want to offend someone who did not know what i was doing.
- God does not live in the church...it is a building, that we as Christians have deemed a proper building for us to congregate. ( i once went to a church that rented a meeting room in a casino)

i thank God for giving someone the ingenuity to design a product that gives me the nicotine i so enjoy, the time away from my desk. and to be able to do it in the house, the car, in bed ( with no fear of falling asleep and burning the house down)...etc....etc....etc

God bless,

Lwood
