We're technically not supposed to. I work in a smoke free environment and in my state it is illegal to vape in smoke free environments. I was scolded by a security guard because I was vaping in the parking lot (which is like .. oh I dunno 300ft feet from the entrance and beyond the one legal smoking area).

HOWEVER, I share a far corner, isolated office on the top floor with a fellow vaper and we vape away in our office. People in my department know we do it and don't care. A few people have commented that it smells good. Another vaper in my department sits smack in the middle of everything in an open concept work area and he just openly takes a hit once in a while. Doesn't bother anyone. This is amazing to me, really.

Not only do we work in an ultra corporate environment, but (and maybe I shouldn't admit this), we work for Big Pharma.

Currently working from home during the week . Being my own boss has advantages; I vape less than I ever smoked, and I can do it inside! I never smoked indoors and sometimes I feel sneaky, vaping . My dog tries to get as close to me as she can when I'm vaping. She likes the smell but hates the clouds. If I left any vaping related item out within her reach she would chew it to pieces and then hide it. I also spend about 12 hours a week at an assisted living facility with a 96 year old woman(ex smoker) playing yahtzee (i could play it blindfolded now)). I don't vape there openly because I don't want her to see me.She has a pack of camels that are 17 years old ,seriously. She keeps them in a bag on her walker and mentions them every few weeks if she gets mad at someone because she thinks she is being sneaky and no one knows she has them. She says she would never smoke them though, but could sure use a drink sometime! They don't allow smoking anywhere on the premises, and I think that's best anyway. I've never asked if vaping is allowed, but I've never seen any one doing it.

I'm a sales manager for a large company with designated smoking areas outside where we are supposed to vape. Lucky for me I have my own office and vape away in it all day long! There was an awkward moment when one of the engineers walked in just after I took a large hit. I was hoping he'd just leave after saying his peace but then he asked a question and I had to talk, at which point the vapor slowly leaked out. Just got a strange look and he never said anything and left. At which point I took another puff and went about my business!

I do get questions about how nice my office smells from time to time. Like, wow, did you get a new air freshener? Ha!

They don't care, we have to go out with the smokers and vape. Although some people vape at their desk, sure enough to ruin it for all.

How does insurance view it? Don't know, haven't checked.

I still go out with my smoker friends and vape. They love it because I vape some delicious smelling stuff.

I have seen a few companies that don't even allow tobacco products on the property. I wonder if they really enforce that? If they do, it's a pretty chicken .... thing to do. I can understand making a smoking section for all the smokers to use, but actually banning it everywhere is pretty ridiculous. I guess I should be thankful I own my own company. I rarely go to my office, but when I do I vape a lot there. No one has ever complained or asked me to stop. Although I'm not sure if it's because they don't really care, or if it's because I'm the boss. But most seem to like the smell for sure. I have been vaping the USA Blend from Golden Gate Vapor lately and everyone says it smells like pancakes.

Here's the thing about vaping in the workplace at one's desk. I worked with a woman who used to regularly douse herself in perfume several times a day at her desk (right next to mine in a large open office). It gave me severe headaches and was so strong I could literally taste it. After a few weeks of this I finally asked her if she could please not spray that in the room -- although I was as polite and unemotional about it as you could ever ask, it was very awkward for her and for me.

So my .02 is really that we say "if someone asks us not to, we will stop" -- ok but why put a co-worker in the position to have to ask. I'm not opposed to indoor vaping at all, and I really think a case could be made for an indoor vaping area that would keep everyone happy and not force the vapers out in the cold with the second-hand smoke (didn't some of us quit smoking to get away from that?). Indoor smoking areas really can't be done, but that's not the case with the ecig. There is a happy compromise in there somewhere and maybe some business owners/employers will figure it out. I hope so :)

I work for FedEx inside working with the drivers and helping the loaders get the appropriate packages to the correct home delivery vans and assigning the correct hazardous packages to each destination and ensuring they are safely secure and that their information is placed where the driver can see it. I'm allowed to vape inside the building and it hasn't bothered anyone. They're pretty lenient there, thankfully.

I work for a transport company that will give you a 3 day suspension if caught smoking in company vehicles. But my supervisor vapes so vaping is aloud anywhere.:vapor:

This has really been the key for me...my boss actually first brought up e-cigs 3 or 4 years ago after hearing a radio spot and I kind of laughed it off and then dove into it shortly after. She never had a problem with it naturally since she was the one repeating how much cleaner and safer it was, unless I did it in close proximity to her and she smelled it, which I can respect. I always run a fan anyway and have an office now.

HR probably wouldn't take kindly to it and I don't flaunt it openly, but if you're in the "right" environment and your nearby coworkers (one in my case) have no problem with it, enjoy and legitimize, I say. In the past when I was in a cube I did stick with mostly PG juice, but now I enjoy the VG clouds and have always preferred the weaker throat hit...or at least, I can vape more frequently with a weaker throat hit and I like vaping :D
