The last cigarette I smoked was on 3/6/2014. I did not think vaping would ever work for me. I had known about ecigs for a long time I heard about them back in 2006 and I bought the first ecig available in 2007. I think it was called gold ecig or something. The thing was terrible. The cartridges were always dry so quickly.. You could maybe get 4 hits off it before it was dead. I was angry. After that I've bought a few disposables for the sole purpose of "stealth vaping" when a knew I couldn't smoke. I never saw it as an alternative to smoking. It just did not scratch that itch.

So one day nearly four months ago I was playing disc golf and I threw a disc deep into the woods and I was kicking leaves around trying to find my disc and I found an ecig. I kept trying to find its owner on the course.. I'd asked everyone I passed(I'm still willing to return your property if you happen to see this). It said kangertech on it so I looked into it. And found it it was a mini protank 2 on an ego style battery. That thing probably saved my life. I went to the local vape shop to grab some juice and a drip tip. I wasn't in love with it but when I ran out of cigs I didn't care to go out if my way to get more. Two days later I really wanted a cig so I bought a pack. I smoked one cigarette out of that pack it was so vial and disgusting having not smoked for only 2 days. I held on to that pack for like a month before I have it away(just in case? I guess). Within 2 weeks I had an MVP and within 6 weeks I was on mechanicals and RDA's. I've been stalking this site for months and owe everything I know about vaping to everyone here. Maybe I can pay it forward. Sorry about the length.. I'm sitting at jury duty bored out of my mind today.

Your story is similar to many on ECF. When I started vaping I didn't realize it at first, but by the end of the first week I was down from 2 PAD to about 6 cigarettes a day. It was pretty amazing.

It's a shame that there are people fighting to end ecigs while still allowing tobacco cigarettes to be sold. If they would just open their eyes and look, they'd see a remarkable new device that could get 90% of American smokers off tobacco in paper tubes.

Welcome to ECF, Pcut! I'm about an hour South of you on I-75. I understand Madvapes has an Atlanta store now and there are some more North of you around Cummings (Awesome Vapor). Atlanta should be full of vape stores.

HA! I know that feeling. Then again my wife found a challenger (disc craft putter) sitting in the open a while back. I suspect someone pulled out a handful for practicing and missed it. I find orange, white and light blue tends to be easy to find, dark colors, yellow, green and tie-dye disc are harder to find than an all day vape!

Great story OP! When I saw your title, I was going to say I accidentally quit smoking via vaping as well, but your accident was far more of an accident then mine was. My mother picked me up an ego starter kit a week before my grandmother died of lung cancer that spread to her brain. I promised her I'd try it, but never promised to quit smoking. I've tried Blu previously through a friend and wasn't impressed. Lo and behold, cigarettes started tasting vile to me as well the longer I vaped between them, and I quit without quite intending to.

Cigarettes taste like getting a dry hit off your cotton.. Only they taste like that all the time. After 4 months I rarely ever crave a cigarette any more. I was at the pool hall the other day and I was REALLY craving a cigarette for the first time in months I guess because I would always chain smoke while I was playing pool. I had to break out my cloud chaser mod(normally I use my tank in public) but it went away.

Pcut - Welcome and way to go. There are so many "accidental" former smokers. I went at this with a vengeance on this latest attempt (starting all the way back in 2010). My mind finally accepted this was what I needed to do (and now this has become a bit of a hobby, so double-bonus)

The winner, winner chicken dinner for me was the right equipment. Cig-alikes were never sufficient (and quite the PITA). Basically a tank and an eGo-like battery was what opened the floodgates.

Best wishes to you and keep on :vapor:
