My son, who turned 18 in May, tried to purchase a bottle of liquid online yesterday but was denied because his ID couldn't be verified. So he called the vendor this morning to try to get it straightened out and they couldn't verify his ID then either. My son has a state issued drivers license so I can't figure out what the problem could be. I'm assuming there is a way for these companies to somehow verify the authenticity of state issued ID's and if this is the case there shouldn't have been a problem. Does anyone know what the actual procedure for verification is?

This has me wondering if it's because we live in Indiana and legislation was passed that will ban online sales to Indiana residents starting July 2016 the language in the bill may be being misunderstood and this company is denying online sales this July. I sure hope this isn't the case.

The company is njoy if that matters.

More than likely the state already established an over 18 I.D. Proof requirement and njoy is not equipped to validate. i.e. they do NOT have Verification process in place at this time.
Other states have more simplified - Sales to adults over 18 regulations in place. i.e. by purchasing YOU verify YOU are 18 or older.

Make sense?

Kinda weird, but usually for online orders, they're only checkpoints are:
- you clicking "I am of legal age
- The address of your order matching the address associated with your credit card

If you're not shipping to the same address your credit card has, that causes them a processing problem...

Most online vendors use some kind of age verification (if available) through the credit card processors. The same system when you have to enter a credit card to get a "FREE Trial" on some 18+ special sites. Check with your bank and make sure the DOB is correct... This may or may not be the issue holding it up.

Ah, didn't think of that. Thanks!

I went ahead and bought that bottle for my son and had no problem so it's got to be a problem coming from the debit card for my son. At least we know now.

Out of curiosity, did you use a debit or credit card. I have purchased from Njoy using a debit card. Is there a possibility that there is such a thing as a debit card for minors with less purchasing privileges i.e. you can't purchase from " adult sites " !?

I'm wondering the same thing. I used my debit card, issued by the same bank as my son's. If I can get my son to call and ask about this I'll let you know if I find out anything.
